We did something a little… unexpected this time.
We went LIVE. 🎥✨

Before Episode 39 even dropped (lol), we decided to test new software, hit “go live” across platforms, and just see what happens.

And honestly? It felt very on-brand.
Because this episode is all about stepping into the moment, embracing a little chaos, and letting the night unfold exactly as it’s meant to.

✨ What We’re Getting Into:
Our first-ever LIVE podcast recording (across THREE platforms 😳)
Rouge: The Heartspring Gala recap—an unforgettable night of impact and artistry
Jen’s birthday weekend (aka… beautifully unhinged in the best way)
What we’re most excited for with Ballet Wichita’s Breaking Barriers
It Hits Different: Taylor Swift’s “22” (and what it actually means now)

🎲 This or That: Main Character Energy Edition
We kicked things off with a live round of This or That… and somehow ended in a tie (which hasn’t happened in a while 👀)
A few favorites:
Gala glam vs cozy chaos
Red carpet entrance vs slipping in unnoticed
Planned outfit vs last-minute magic
Group photos vs candid chaos
Statement piece vs understated chic
Final verdict:
We’re cozy chaos girls… with a deep appreciation for a glam moment.

💃 Rouge: The Heartspring Gala
An absolute moment.
From the lighting to the performances to the overall energy, this night delivered:
Red-lit, immersive atmosphere
Aerial performers + dancers transforming the space
A packed dance floor (which is no small feat 👏)
A live auction that had the entire room locked in
And most importantly…
✨ Nearly $1 million raised for Heartspring
The stories shared throughout the night were powerful, emotional, and deeply human—a reminder that behind all the beauty and celebration is life-changing work.

🎂 Birthday Weekend Shenanigans
Where do we even begin…
This weekend had:
A content re-do that turned out even better than planned
Nails, hair, and full glam prep (a full-day production)
Dancing the night away at Brickyard with A Band in Kansas
Barefoot moments (because… heels 😅)
Surprise run-ins with friends that made the night even more fun
And then…
Sunday said: we’re not done yet.
Royals game + Uno battles (with aggressive smack talk)
Patio hangs at Hopping Gnome
A full-circle moment watching Jen’s boys perform (cue emotional damage 😭💛)
The takeaway:
 Exhausting. Joyful. Completely worth it.

🩰 What’s Next: Breaking Barriers
We’re heading back to the B-29 Doc Hangar for Ballet Wichita’s Breaking Barriers—and based on what we’ve already seen…
We know:
It’s going to be powerful
It’s going to be emotional
It’s going to be one of those shared experiences that sticks with you

🎶 It Hits Different: “22” – Taylor Swift
This one hit in two different ways:

Rachel’s take:
Fun, girly, carefree energy… until it takes a turn into “bad decisions but make it fun” territory 😅

Jen’s take:
Pure nostalgia
Late nights, laughter, and that “nothing matters except this moment” feeling

Big realization:
 Feeling “22” isn’t about age—it’s about energy.

🥂 The Moment That Matters
We closed on something that really stuck:
Being in the moment is a balance.
Yes, we capture content.
 Yes, we document.
But the real magic?
✨ Putting the phone down
✨ Feeling it in real time
✨ Letting the moment actually be yours

📣 Let’s Keep It Going
Got a Taylor Swift song for Rachel? Send it our way 🎶
Watched the live? Tell us how it felt
Want more of this chaos? Same 😌

And as always…
✨ Be in the moment
 🥂 Cheers to the chaos
💖 And we’ll see you next time

So THIS happened.

The stream is live.

SPEAKER_00

We're live. Look at us be so live. There it is. We're doing something different. We're doing something different. So we are on okay. Yes, we are live on the So This Happened Facebook page. We are live on my uh Jen Cole public Facebook page. And we are live on the So This Happened Instagram account. So we're live in three places at once. This is going to be episode 40 of So This Happened. Cheers. Yeah. Also, we're sitting right next to each other. So this is kind of a test situation. We're making sure that we can do this remote, but also we're having a lot of fun with playing playing with live. Because we this should be so weird. I can't wait to see how the clips are gonna turn out on this. Like, this will be neat. This will be fun. It's gonna be interesting. So yeah, this is a testing situation. We're so excited to have you test this with us.

SPEAKER_02

We'll see how it goes. So why not go live for the first time we've done this, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, sure. Why not?

SPEAKER_02

Let's embarrass ourselves and have a good time doing it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. If you guys have any input along the way, please be kind. This is our first time.

SPEAKER_02

Be brutal. Actually, let us have it. Oh gosh, don't ask for that.

SPEAKER_00

Love it. So we have a lot to cover tonight. We're going to be talking about our time at the Heartspring Gala. Rouge. The Heartspring Gala was absolutely fabulous. We're going to be talking about my birthday shenanigans, which were plenty and fun and also very exhausting. And we'll be talking about how incredibly excited we are for Ballet Wichita's performance of Breaking Barriers that we will be attending on Friday night. So that is so exciting. We love our Ballet Wichita community very much. They're so wonderful. And yay! Yeah, I'm excited. Episode 40. Episode 4-0. And it's coming out before episode 39, kind of. So this is such a wild little situation we've got going.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's a little flipping nene, but we will be flipping nene. We're just gonna make it work, guys, because this is what we're doing. And we are that committed to our audience and to this podcast that we're gonna keep it rolling, even if it's gonna be live and virtual. So testing, testing, one, two, three.

SPEAKER_00

Here we go. Oh my gosh. So yeah, we well, of course, we have to dive straight into this or that. So this is gonna be a lot of fun for anyone that catches this live for sure. So we are doing this or that right now, and this is our um main character energy version of this or that. So I'm ready. The way this goes is I will give out a prompt. Rachel will write down her answer, I will write down my answer, and we will both write down what we think the other one is going to say. You broke my streak last week, Rachel. I did.

SPEAKER_02

I did. We both have done that to each other before our birthdays, I think.

SPEAKER_00

I I think you're right. Wild. Wow, we just totally like you, birthday girl. It's okay, it's okay. It ended up being a blast. It's all good. It's all good fun. All right, so we're ready, yes. You sure you're ready? Uh-huh. I'm ready. You asked that makes me nervous, but go for it. Go for it. Okay, so first off, we'll win to it. Gala glam or cozy chaos. Gala glam or cozy? Gosh. I yeah, you know, I was so excited about this prompt, and now I'm like, why did I pick this? That's tough. This is hard. Like out of 10, what would we pick? Out of you, 10 knights, what would you pick? Gosh. Oh, I loved being dressed up. I don't know. I uh get we we gotta go with something. I'm stuck. So the prompt is uh gala glam or cozy chaos. So I have my answers ready. We're just we're just sitting here with our little Jeopardy theme in our brains, waiting for Rachel to decide how much she feels. Or is it me? Are you ready? I did it. Okay, all right, let's go.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I put glam for you and cozy for me. Damn it!

SPEAKER_00

I tricked me. I know I I wasn't trying to trick you. I was just so here's the thing. You rat bastard. No, here's the thing. Like, I oh, I loved it. I loved it.

SPEAKER_02

I put a C for cozy here. And then you ran into Glam. I went and I added the I made it the C into a G. I should have I should have put clam for both because we're both like cozy clams. Like we're cozy as clams, glam and cozy. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I think I'm into the well, you know, I was thinking about gosh, I did love it. I thought it was a lot of fun. Absolutely wonderful time, of course. But here's the thing getting all glammed up took the entire day.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, you stopped right there. I had 30 minutes. That's right. Okay, all right, all right. You stopped here a while. I don't want to hear it.

SPEAKER_00

Dude, you're lucky you have that how do you get ready, ma'am? That's right. You were a little road warrior one day.

SPEAKER_02

I was a road way warrior. I showed up and I uh I zipped up my dress. I showed up, my man showed up. He like I was like my my dress was up to my waist, and I had a t-shirt on that I had been driving in, and I was like, hi, and like glimmered over to him like a freaking, I don't know, like a mermaid, something like a mermaid, like a mermaid in a t-shirt, and would you button me up, buttercup? Oh dear, it did, but I'll tell you what, my feet still hurt, really?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yeah, oh yeah. I'm sorry, but they you were wearing those heels. Oh my goodness.

SPEAKER_02

They were not that comfortable, I'll tell you that.

SPEAKER_00

No, they're not that comfortable. I wore platforms and even well, yeah, wedges. I wore wedges, which I am so proud of you for.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you. It was so much fun. I have not seen you in wedges in a while.

SPEAKER_00

It's been a long time. I only break them out for special occasions.

SPEAKER_02

And your ankles are feeling good.

SPEAKER_00

My ankles are feeling fine. There was a little twinge yesterday, but it's also, I feel like that's because I wore sandals all day yesterday. I really should have just gone right back to the tennis shoes.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. All right, well, you got my stuck in her titties. I lost that one. Damn it.

SPEAKER_00

All right, the next one red carpet entrance or slipping in unnoticed. Yeah, this is a hard one. I keep hitting my mic. Okay. You got yours? Yeah. Okay, I got mine. Let's go.

SPEAKER_02

I put slip slip.

SPEAKER_00

I said red carpet, red carpet. Damn it, we're both wrong. Whoa, we have zero neurosyncricity tonight.

SPEAKER_01

Look at us, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So I just, man, I could get used to having a red carpet everywhere I go. Honestly, that was phenomenal.

SPEAKER_02

Well, see, that was fun because we both did have a red carpet the other day, but also everyone else was filing in, so we still slip the sided in.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, have that red carpet in it. So that's fun. Give it to me every day. In fact, I want just to put a little red carpet like at my QB at work, and then like, you know, if it if it appears, that's not a bad idea.

SPEAKER_02

But you know what?

SPEAKER_00

I'm also like, give me a yellow brick road, okay. Oh no, I like that idea too. That's super cute.

SPEAKER_02

Give me a yellow brick road, screw the brick carpet, throw it on the yellow brick road, and I'm on my way. All right.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, on your way. That's perfect. On your way to success. Okay, all right, all right, all right. Planned outfit or last minute magic. Like, I'm not giving anything away. No. We'll talk about this after the answers. Okay, I know mine. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like we're both. So this is hard.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna find out.

SPEAKER_02

This is a hard question. Kinda, but I think if I'm wrong, you're wrong. You know what I mean? Because I know you better than you know you're dash dang che.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know about that. Okay. I mean, I yeah, right all the time you do. Okay, all right, ready, go. So I said for me planned, and for you last minute. I put planned, planned. Yeah, you know, because what happens if it's not planned, the room ends up in complete chaos. Trying things on, throwing them down, trying to do it.

SPEAKER_02

You got that one wrong. But I get what you said last minute because I threw myself together last minute, but what did I do the week prior, knowing that this was gonna happen? I knew what dress I was gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. And see, even for me on Saturday, I was like, there was like, I was like, okay, if this does, I don't know if I want to wear this dress. This dress means that I have to do this, this, this, and this also. And I don't know if I want to do that, but this is the better dress, the other one I've worn before, and I don't want to wear it. So boom. Wow, the overthinking still existed.

SPEAKER_02

So, yeah, I think we both planned, planned, and you know I planned ahead because even when I pack for going out of town for work for the week, I plan my outfits.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you know, I'm like that's right, yeah. You're doing a lot of travel for work right now.

SPEAKER_02

So I planned a lot of my outfits because I need to make sure I have them for the weather and everything. Yes, yeah, I'm stealing your eraser.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so why are you laughing? No, this one's too obvious. I'm not even doing this one. Okay, okay. Group photos or candid chaos. What would you rather do? Like, what would you rather have? I know what I would rather have. I don't know. This is a risk. Is it yeah? Ready? Okay, yeah, I'm ready. I think candid for both.

SPEAKER_02

Candid for both.

SPEAKER_00

Yay! Look at us going both at a point. What? Oh my gosh. That hasn't happened in a while. Okay. All right, this is our tiebreaker. Oh shit. Hopefully. We'll see what happens. Okay. Now, would you rather? Oh, I need to erase my stuff. Okay, would you rather have would you rather like do this whole like we're have okay, jewelry. Think statement piece or understated chic. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I know. Like, I think I can go with I can get with it. Okay, okay. I got with it. I already put down what I think we both would like. Crossing fingers. Okay. Okay, you ready? Yeah. Chic for both is what I said. I got understated chic for both. Perfect. Well, we're ending in a tie tonight. Tie tie! What about that? That hasn't happened in a really long time. Do you remember at the beginning in our early episodes when we like tied all right time?

SPEAKER_02

We oh my gosh, we tied angle time, and we had an awful amount of questions too, and we still would always tie. That's good. I know.

SPEAKER_00

Look at us go. We've come a long way. It's been a long time since we've tied, but hey, I'll take it. That was a lot of fun.

SPEAKER_02

I guess it took going live to do it.

SPEAKER_00

Look at us go. Cheers to that.

SPEAKER_02

Cheers.

SPEAKER_00

Very nice.

SPEAKER_02

It's weird. We're I feel like a newscaster over here being separate from you, but like. But also, we're right next to each other.

SPEAKER_01

As bad as that. No, it's just Jen. It's just me.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh. So, okay, so Saturday night, we attended Rouge, the Heart Spring Gala, out at the B29 Dockhanger. Yes. And it was incredible.

SPEAKER_02

That was phenomenal.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Oh my gosh. We're talking about like their red lights everywhere, like acrobatics from the ceiling, like from they really made great use of the space that they had.

SPEAKER_02

And I love how they separated so the number one hanger where Doc was at the plane, how that was like the entry point for the appetizers, for the happy hour, for the social hour, and the way that they just engaged everybody and made it like a cohesive event going into the next room. Yeah. I thought was very well done. Oh my gosh. Shout out to everybody that was a part of creating that event. I know our friend Brent was part of it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, yes. Oh yeah, because he sponsored all of the decor and the atmosphere. And oh my gosh, it was wonderful. If you saw the reel that we put together and posted on Instagram, then oh, I should put that on YouTube too. Oh my gosh. You should. Oh, it was so good. Yeah. Oh, absolutely beautiful. The charger plates, the napkins, the tablecloths, the centerpieces. Yes, the center pieces. Beautiful.

SPEAKER_02

The center people. And the center people. It wasn't centerpieces. It was centered. Oh my gosh, that's the center women, like the dancing.

SPEAKER_00

Dancing on this on the stage with the lamps. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

And their costumes were gorgeous too. Who did this? Did you think that's the same thing?

SPEAKER_00

So this is like this is a group called Quixotic. Okay. Um, and so they they are a group that does the acrob, you know, the acrobatic stuff that we saw up in the aerial stuff. The dancers, I'm wondering if even the musical talent was part of that too. I was wondering the same thing. I think that I heard that they were out of Kansas City, but I well, I know the band, the band afterwards that at the after party where we went back into the hangar. Yes. That that band was from Kansas City. Okay. But Quixotic is local. So very cool to have them there. Yeah, they oh my gosh, they oh they sang one of your your favorite songs. I know. We got a cute little clip of you lip syncing too. And no, you were not lip syncing, you were singing it actively, and you did a beautiful job of it. Thank you. Yes, thank you. Yes, you did a wonderful job. No, I'm not. She's a beautiful singer. Oh, okay. But like speaking of musical talent, all of the musical talent that we heard that night from the band. I really wish I would have gotten the name of the band from Kansas City, but they how many vocalists do they have? They had probably five or six vocals on the book.

SPEAKER_02

So uh I love that they all took turns and everyone was feeling it. The dance floor was full.

SPEAKER_00

The dance floor was full. Oh my gosh. It's it's very different. Incredible.

SPEAKER_02

That's usually one of the I feel like the hardest things for events to do is when they intend first people to be feeling the dance floor and dancing. That's one of the things that a lot of different events struggle with is getting, especially because this is a very diverse crowd. And you know, whether you want to say it's the younger people or the older people that would just want to dance, this crowd was very diverse in age and whatever realm that they worked in. Yeah. Like it was a very well-rounded crowd of people and individuals. Um, and everyone was out there, and I think it's because they just made it an all-encompassing, very exciting event, and they made it to where everyone was just experiencing something. Yeah. And I think that made it very good. And they raised so much money.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, almost a million dollars they raised that night. Incredible. So we're talking about like, of course, ticket sales to the event, but there was a live auction, phenomenal. Oh, that was so exciting and so just engaging. Although there was that time that the guy that was like, hey, like right behind me scared the crap out of me because it was so loud, he was so good at his job. Like it was amazing. Yeah, oh my god, it's been a long time since I've seen a live auction, and that was incredible. And like we're talking trips to Europe, all kinds of like just really intense things. I can't even remember all of them. I was just like caught up in all the things that were happening around us. It was incredible.

SPEAKER_02

It was the menu was amazing, and and very, very generous with wanting to support Heart Spring, and they shared a lot of beautiful stories as well.

SPEAKER_00

They really did. The videos were wonderful.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, they shared, I think, three solid stories, three individuals that have gone through Heart Springs care, and it was really moving and everything. Like I got chill bumps. Um that's only three, and yeah, you know, they serve over like they have in contact with well over at least 100, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, and this isn't just the Wichita community either, it's across the nation. Yeah, it's incredible the amount of lives that they're touching and changing, and yeah, they're doing really great work. Yeah, and it was fun to get to be a part of that community on Saturday night and celebrate that amazing community and all the amazing work that they're doing in Wichita and of course for families across the nation. Yeah, so and it was fun to okay, Brent with the caviar bumps again. Oh my gosh, amazing!

SPEAKER_02

Why is he always coming out here trying to give us caviar?

SPEAKER_00

Because he loves us. I feel like for Brent, the caviar bumps with the vodka chases.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, we're doing something great, but I feel like that's his love language.

SPEAKER_02

It's a caviar shot. If he loves it, if Brent ever puts caviar on your hand, it means he loves you, and it means a shot of vodka will follow.

SPEAKER_00

So always say yes, it's phenomenal. You have to, it's a great experience. I love it so much.

SPEAKER_02

It's uh yep, it's a fishy egg hole to your face. I don't know. That's a way to describe it. I feel sorry for saying that live.

SPEAKER_00

No, I think it's a walker. Tell us what you really think, Rachel. I always do. Yes, you do. That's the best part of this podcast. You get the raw moments for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Nope. Thank you, everybody, that put on that event. It was amazing. It was so much fun. It was a beautiful event. I hope that everyone else had a beautiful time as we did. I know they did because I was watching everyone have a blast.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and everyone looked just phenomenal. It was so much fun to like check out all the outfits. I know, like Logan and Brent and they're matching red velvet skin. Yes, they matched. Oh my gosh, they look so handsome.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it was great. And then we went afterwards to our favorite local band.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we went to, yeah, so jumping into birthday shenanigans. So we were going from Heart Spring, which just happened to be my birthday weekend, which also funnily enough, was fell on Annika's birthday. So my birthday is March 27th, and Anika's birthday is March 28th.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't know that either until the day of our mother told her happy birthday. We did, we collectively told her happy birthday. Okay, good. So don't worry. Yeah. She's amazing. She looks phenomenal too. Always. Always when does she never I know? Yes. We're we're big Annika fans over here, if you couldn't tell. Yeah. Okay, so all right, birthday shenanigans. Okay, so yes, we did go to Brickyard, but I gotta we gotta back up a little bit. Rewind. The shenanigans started, well, kind of the weekend before, yes, which we won't I don't want to dive too far into that because it wasn't a it wasn't a good experience. So we were so my husband had this beautiful idea of doing this fun reel, which I'm sure if you follow our social, you've seen the reel, which is is phenomenal. But we tried to film it one time and it got ruined by an old town drunkard, and so yeah, it just sucked all the fun and memory out of it. So Tim and I reshot it in College Hill Park, and this time I was ready. I'd had a great day at work, I loved my outfit, I had my tiara, I even thought to bring the that pretty pink wine glass with me, and I just I had everything just looking the way that I wanted to. I felt good, the park was beautiful, and we did this thing in one take. Good, just one take. Oh my god, like the time when we did it in Old Town. Like I was overthinking it, I was nervous, I wasn't feeling it, I didn't really want to be there.

SPEAKER_02

And then they they threw it off with their whole yeah.

SPEAKER_00

The vibe was not there. Yeah, and it just didn't it wasn't a good situation. So I I'm so glad that we redid it in the park, and the the photos turned out amazing, good, like way better than the old the old town ones would have, and the uh capture, the video capture was wonderful too. So it was a great experience, and then nails, of course, on Saturday and getting my hair done by January. So I got my nails done by at Urban Nails, they did so good, and I got like the unicorn chrome. I don't know if you can tell on camera.

SPEAKER_02

I'm sure. Let me see in person. Oh my god, they do look good. I haven't even actually looked at them yet.

SPEAKER_00

With the little French, I did the little French tip on there for a little nod to the Rouge Gala because you know, with a French theme. And then right after that, I went to get my hair done up by Jennifer at Color Therapy, who, by the way, is a future guest on this podcast. So we're really excited to host Jennifer. That's gonna be so much fun. And then, yeah, after the Heart Swing Gala, we went and did my favorite thing ever. This is like my favorite thing to do in Wichita is to go, well, one of them. I have a lot of favorite things, but this is one top of the list, going to see a band in Kansas at the brickyard. It's my favorite, they're my favorite local band, and host Sway was there too. We won't play playing on that trumpet, and it was just oh my gosh, we nearly closed the place down. I know it was such a bust, and we went all dressed up in our gala.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I was staying there pooped. I didn't even like time.

SPEAKER_00

I was like you were up at the stage longer than I was, that's for sure.

SPEAKER_02

You believe in me. I took my shoes off and I was standing barefoot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I was over those heels.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh, I bet. Like we're talking hours than these.

SPEAKER_02

I got home and Casey was like, wash your feet. I was like On it. Yeah, you. Yes. Okay. Oh my god. I'm watching everything. Yeah. Don't even worry about it. It was a long day. But and how? So fun and so worth it. Yeah. Oh my gosh. I'm so glad that I got to celebrate you with you and celebrate you and your birthday the day after.

SPEAKER_00

I know. I know. We got to spend a whole lot of time together.

SPEAKER_02

I'm so glad.

SPEAKER_00

And and then it was also fun because when we got to Brickyard, there were so many friends there, also that I didn't I should have expected to see, but I totally forgot to expect to see them there. So it was super fun surprise to see my friend Monica, my friend Rebecca, our friends Carlo and Leon. And so it just added to all the fun of the night. I can't like we stayed there so long, and and her dude, Casey, and my husband Tim met us at the brickyard. And so just imagine us all dressed up and then our guys just dressed all casual. I know.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, I probably'm getting kidnapped when I'm walking back to my car with a guy in a hoodie.

SPEAKER_00

Oh no. Oh my gosh. Oh, abandoned Kansas. So I don't so for those who are unfamiliar, it's four words. A band in Kansas. But if you say it fast, it sounds like you're abandoning Kansas, like getting out. So I know that we've explained this on this podcast before because I know that we talked about Christmas Eve Eve and abandoned Kansas plays there too. But you know, we just have to clarify in case you're new to this podcast, what's going on. Okay, so oh, that night was phenomenal. But then it's crazy because I had said that Sunday was going to be my day of rest. Oh, it was not my day of rest. And I'm glad. I feel like it was well worth it. So we got up and Tim was like, oh no, no, no, no, no. Back it up. The night before. So we were hanging out at the gala, and I got a text message from Chrissy saying, Hey, let's do singo on Sunday at the Hopping Gnome from three to five. And I'm like, Well, only snacks, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

My first question.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, there was. There was a food truck. Okay. And so I told her yes because I love hanging with Chrissy. And there's snacks. There's snacks. But we so but we woke up and Tim's like, hey, let's let's go down and get some lunch and watch the Royals game and play Uno with the boys, my boys. And so the boys and I packed up in the car. Tim got on his bike. He loves to ride his bike when it's based out. So if you ever see him riding around, don't honk at him because I don't want him to crash. Be safe. We loved Tim. And so, yes, uh, we went and we played Uno. I got my booty handled handed to me. The Royals did win. I'm sorry, you said you got your booty handled hand handed to me by these smack talking boys and my husband. I swear they gang up on me when we play Uno, but I love it. So special moments. And then I went to the Hopping Gnome and I did not play Singo because Singo got canceled. But I still hung out with Chrissy and it was so much fun. We ended up there for hours just hanging out on the patio at Hopping Gnome. It was so much fun. And then last night, after hanging out with Chrissy, we went to the church where my boys each performed in the talent show. Nathan sang a piece from Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, which was amazing. Oh my god, he killed it. And then I know he did. Oh, you know he did. I have video. And also, and Nick played a trumpet solo and he did phenomenal as well. Oh my gosh, it was amazing. It was his last talent show. He killed it. It was last talent show as a senior. Oh, it was definitely a moment. The lasts are all beginning, and they're starting to just punch me in the face. And you're getting so old. And I have to do this two years in a row. They're growing up so they were like this big when I met them. They were like a foot tall. I know. Oh my god. But yeah, so yeah, the birthday weekend was phenomenal. It was there was a lot there. There's a lot of memories made, a lot of really great photos taken too that I haven't posted yet. So I'm really excited to share those. There's just so much going on. But yeah, it was wonderful.

SPEAKER_02

I'm so glad you had a good first entry into this next year of your life. I am too. I think that there's only gonna be even more next time around. That's so true. Holy heck, I mean shoot.

SPEAKER_00

Holy heck, I mean shoot.

SPEAKER_02

Holy heck, I mean shoot. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_00

Even in Oklahoma too long, girl.

SPEAKER_02

You called me out.

SPEAKER_00

Holy heck, shoot.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my. She just called me out. Oh yeah. Okay. Holy heck darn too.

SPEAKER_00

Um yeah. Speaking of all that polish, oh my gosh. I'm so excited for Friday. We have um we lost Rachel. She'll be back in a minute. Did you die? We got Rachel here. I'm back. Look at that. I'm back, folks. I died. She died. It's fine. Life carries on, it's all good. We have Ballet Wichita's performance, breaking barriers to look forward to on Friday night. I'm super excited for that. Oh, it's gonna be incredible. We got to see a sneak peek of it when we were at the sparkling social a few weeks ago. It looks amazing. Oh my gosh. And they the performers had such fun with it. They really did. You can tell that. And I love that about it. I think it's gonna be very, it's gonna be very powerful.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think it's gonna probably make me cry. Absolutely. And I'm ready for it. Well, that's good. I mean, there is that. I love powerful moments that make me cry. I think that's very important as a human to have.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and it's yeah, I mean, and and feeling that collectively with a group of people that are all like experiencing the same thing at the same time is yeah, it's something to be treasured for sure. So I we have a lot to look forward to with that. I I I'm not hoping the experience is going to be powerful. I know that the experience is gonna be powerful. So I feel like I feel like those expectations have already been set, and I know that they're gonna land that so hard. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_02

Even the like I think it was like a five-minute performance clip that we got, the teaser, um already was amazing. Yeah, and you can already tell that the performers are ready for this, yes, and that they're so sold on their characters and their moments and the meaning behind their actions and their movements, and it's exciting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it is. I I can't wait. Another fun thing about this is at it's also at the B29 Dockhanger. So we'll be back there again this Friday night. So less than a week in between events, but that will be just so I I'm excited to see how the space is going to be transformed for them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think it's gonna be really cool to see how it's utilized in all of these ways, and I think that's something that, yeah, everyone should be taking account of because that's an excellent venue.

SPEAKER_00

It is an excellent venue. Also, we already know where the bathrooms are, so we had fun in there, as we do. I feel like we always have fun in the girls' room. We even have girls' room stories from Century 2 nights, too. So it's always fun. The water won't work, and oh, holding each other's wine. There was another one of those. Yes, that always happens.

SPEAKER_02

You have to hold someone's wine or the water won't work or whatever. It's always a fun scenario.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my well, so excited for that Friday. If you haven't gotten tickets yet, you can get them at balletwithshaw.com and we hope to see you there. It'll be a lot of fun. Yes, we hope to see you there. Um, yeah, so this happened. Well, we still have to talk about our Taylor Swift segments. Putting you on the spot. Here we go. We're gonna be talking about 22 from Taylor's Red album tonight. Here we go. Rachel just got a review of that right before our recording tonight. So tell me how you feel.

SPEAKER_02

I feel 22. Oh, yeah. Oh, I don't. I wish I did. But I like the song a lot. I feel as though it's so I need to be on girls' show. Like all of her songs are upbeat, like make me feel like I need to be like surrounded by a bunch of girls, like going to do some fun, girly things, uh-huh, which is fun. 22. But then I noticed halfway through the song, she seems like she found a man, and she's like, You make me feel 22. Like, because there's one line and I forget what it is, but there's one halfway through the song, maybe two-thirds through the song, and then she switches it about like I found she switches it about like I found you, now you make me feel 22. You know, because at first it seems like it's just a fun, fun, fun thing. Oh my god, that's so true. And then at the very time You look like bad news. I gotta have you. Yes, that's what it is. That's the one, that's it. Guess what? Did that a lot, and I'm not trying to do that again, Taylor. Yeah, don't be putting these ideas in my head. I ain't doing that. Uh uh. I ain't 22 no more. I don't have time for that shit. I'm 30. Okay. I ain't 22. Oh dear. But no, but that is it's a great song. I think it's really fun. I think when you look into it, like when I was actually looking at the lyrics, because I've heard it before and I like it. It's fun, it's upbeat. Like if it was playing in like the background of like me having fun with my girlfriends, it'd be a blast, you know. But I'm not gonna like pick it to put on. But if it was it, but I'm also I don't pick songs to put on. Oh, yeah, yeah. But I would enjoy it, yeah. And like it would lift me up in the background, so I really like the high spirit of it. It's all good vibes, yeah. But I will say, if I dive into it, two-thirds of the way through it, she picks a man that makes her just being the best decision, but she's having fun doing it, so get it, girl. So get it, girl. But obviously, she tossed him aside and went for Kelsey. We know that at a girl, at a girl.

SPEAKER_00

I love this song so much. So, this song, when I when I hear it, it it reminds me of carefree, just super fun nights when I was like to me, it's those nights when I was out in San Diego with my group of friends. We were out late. We were walking the streets of San Diego late at night, just going, you know, bar-to-bar pizza joints back to the hotel, hanging out in the hotel lobbies, getting kicked out of hotel rooms for being too loud and laughing too much. Like just fun, fun, like innocent though, innocent debauchery. Yeah, just a blast. And so this night brings me back to those memories a lot. Like my me being 22. I mean, I I'm sure I had memories like that when I was 22, but I just turned 43, so that was like over 20 years ago now. Well, that's a whole 21 year old.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's the thing about it isn't that how it makes you feel like you feel carefree and amazing. I mean, and LS any, which just seems like so much, it seems like 30 is so much further away from 40, but not really not.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's not really, and the coolest thing is really not the older you get, the less you care about like stupid things, which is wonderful.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I just want to have a good old time. Yeah, that's what I mean and get shit done.

SPEAKER_00

Get shit done, yes. Get shit done and have a good time. I think another thing that this song that I love about this song, and I gotta take it back to the Eras Tour, which was really cool because during the song for the song 22, before like at the beginning of the concert and kind of toward like the first couple of sets of the Earestur, Andrea, Taylor's mom, would scour the crowd. And Andrea and a team of people would scour the crowd looking for like a young fan that was just like so into it, singing it, screaming every word, really just excited to be there, emotional about the experience. And they would pick this person, it was typically a child, boy or girl, doesn't matter. And they and then by the time this song was about to be sung, they would have this child front and center, front row, center, right up to the stage at the Eras tour. Taylor Swift would be walking to Taylor Swift and the dancers would be walking all the way down this catwalk to the end of the stage. And Taylor was wearing this fedora, and they called it the 22 hat during the Eras tour, and I think maybe even during the Red Tour. I'm not sure if she did this during the Red Tour, but she would like have a moment with a child at the end of the cat at the end of the stage and put the fedora on their head and exchange friendship bracelets or whatever. I would cry every every time I watched the Eras tour, I cried. Every time I watched it on a fuzzy live stream, I cried. There are so many times I've cried over the danger's tour, but it was just such a beautiful moment that she shared with one ginormous fan every single night of the tour, and it became such a traditional sweet.

SPEAKER_02

And when I laugh like that, I'm not making funny man. I just don't get it.

SPEAKER_00

You have to see it. I think I think if she's beautiful, but think of that kid, like just absolutely adoring Taylor Swift, and she seems so yeah, uh just you inaccessible. And then having her place that fedora on your head as you're a 10-year-old girl, like that is insane. You're right.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, even if Taylor were to come up to me and place a fedora on my head randomly on the street, I'd be like, Hell yeah. I'd be like, Are you Taylor? I'd be like, oh my god. Is your name Swift? Or Taylor? Is it Swift Taylor or Taylor Swift? You'd mean Kelsey. Not yet, but no, I it would be wasted on me. It wouldn't be because I would feel so honored, but I'd also be like, How about I put a fedora on your head?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like I don't quite get it.

SPEAKER_02

I put a fedora on your head.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. So I don't know. That that song is just is it's that's it's great, it's uplifting, it's very special, and it's got some really cool tradition behind it too, which is a wonderful thing.

SPEAKER_02

I think that's very sweet. I love that you have tied all of those specific memories with it. That just really means that she is sending this beautiful message through to everybody.

SPEAKER_00

I really think she does. Yeah, she does, she does this, she does it very well.

SPEAKER_02

That's why she's got such good success, is because she actually has meaning behind everything she does, and I think that's beautiful. And that's also why I was like, I want you to teach me. So assign me a song every time you can, because I do believe that I want to encompass some of that into my knowledge of being a Swifty. Yeah, I'm a byproduct Swifty.

SPEAKER_00

You're a Swifty by default or by proxy. By proxy. Yeah, by proxy.

SPEAKER_02

I'm Swifty by proxy.

SPEAKER_00

Swifty by proxy. I love that. Also, if anyone ever has any song like Taylor Swift song suggestions that you would like to hear us go over, please put it in the comments, email us, DM us, whatever you want. Um we're happy to do that for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, I would take requests. I would love more requests. I do I really would. I like opening up my span of Swifty knowledge. Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Please help me. So we've talked a lot tonight about mom like instances where we've been kind of just incredibly present, not on our phones, unless we're capturing a moment. We're not scrolling, we're truly being in the moment. So, what is that what does that mean to you from just a what what is being in the moment really mean to you?

SPEAKER_02

Um, I could give you an example right off the top of my head recently while we were at the event, you know, I caught myself trying to capture videos of all the silk dancers and everything. Yeah, yeah. At just the heart spring event. And I realized as I was looking through the camera lens, and then I would look to the side of my phone, it's so much better looking at it in person than looking at it through my phone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I was thinking that I was videoing it. I was like, they don't get it. This isn't a good video. Like, it's not yeah, the camera's not gonna do it justice. And so just that alone made me real. I was like, gosh, I just need to put this down and just enjoy it. But also, we're here to promote the Heart Spring event. Yeah, yeah. So it was like it was like a hard balance balance to to seek in that manner. So being in the moment was your question. Yeah, which is a little bit more difficult because we've spoken about this before when we were talking about like the stomp that we went to.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and I love having us put the phones away, but then having the opportunity to bring them back out.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, they gave us the opportunity to do to bring them back out, and then they did a performance after they were like, Okay, phones on. Yes, I love that. Which I loved that they specified that because it let us really like hone in, and then it let us hone in on getting actual like some good content, yeah, which helps them and helps us, and they know that. I mean, that's kind of where the world's come to is you need that content to help spread the word. It's true, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But you know, something that I've noticed when I'm doing that is like I'll I I've gotten to where I will just get like snippets, like five, six, five, six second snippets that basically capture at least just you get the vibe of it, and then I put the phone back down until it's time to do another one. So then you you you have the moment captured, but you also still get to experience it firsthand and be present.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I think that you do a very good job of that, especially just I've been and you've always done really good about that action, it's probably better than me. And so that's something I've always like learned and gathered from you too. But it's helpful when we both kind of do the different snips, yes, because you might capture a different moment and I might capture a different moment, and then I can send you what I have, and vice versa.

SPEAKER_00

And I love that you had like this beautifully, you you took the a photo the other night that like it had the food kind of in the foreground, but then you can see beautifully like our lit number thir table number 13 in the background, too. With it I hope I sent it to you did, it was an absolutely gorgeous photo.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, okay, yeah. See, we both get different views of things, so it's good to have that for sure. So it does it. I think it's so important to stay in the moment, otherwise, yeah, you won't know how to fully encapsulate it in a little memory clip, whether it be on social media or in your brain. I think that I honestly was trying to take too many videos because I was so like, oh my god, this is so exciting.

SPEAKER_00

There's so much to see in like this video. I want so much to video it all. Yeah. And well, and also to look at later just for funsies. I know.

SPEAKER_02

So it is a mix. It's so I don't know exactly how to describe it, but I think that you do an excellent job of taking the clips and then letting it go and experiencing it because I never feel like you're on your phone too much, even as like even as like am I being no, even as like social media forward and perfectly like clippy you are, like with getting clips, it's perfectly segmented out. Oh, good.

SPEAKER_00

I'm glad because like a lot of the times, you know, we can be really self-conscious about things like that. I know, right?

SPEAKER_02

But I feel like we have a good balance, we still enjoy all the moments in person together, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You know, so cheers to that, cheers, and also so this happened, so this happened, this happened like live, which is incredible to me. I love that we finally ripped off this band-aid. We did it. I'm excited about that. There's also gonna be episodes where we have to like probably broadcast remote from each other, and so that's why another reason why we're practicing this new software. We're using StreamYard for those of you who are audio only and not seeing us live or on video. Um, our little StreamYard watermark up there. So, if that's ever something that you want to learn more about, let us know. Happy to talk about StreamYard and its capabilities, it's a pretty awesome tool. This is not an ad. No, it's not. This is not the first time.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so obviously, I let my laptop die. I will not be doing that in the future whenever we do have to do this virtually.

SPEAKER_00
