No guest. Just Jen and Rachel, a bottle of rosé, some very big news, and the return of one of the OG segments.

Episode 43 has a lot going on: Jen paid off her student loans (HALLELUJAH). The Trend Decoder made its triumphant comeback. The whole Cole family had a Music Man moment. And Rachel officially became a Swifty — live on air. Reputation precedes her, indeed.

📱 TREND DECODER IS BACK

Listener Tracy requested the comeback and we delivered. Jen reads each trend cold, Rachel guesses what it means, and then we riff. Rachel has zero prep. That is the whole point.

Trend #1 — “Hallelujah”: Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance spawned this wholesome gratitude trend — list things you love, add “hallelujah.” We made our own list on air. Top entries: paid off my student loans, cold pillow at bedtime, perfectly poured glass of wine, and chicken wings landing in ranch. (Rachel’s contribution. No notes.)

Trend #2 — “My Top 5 Horror Stories”: Not actual horror films — people list real-life fears and everyday icks that feel like a horror movie. Rachel’s guesses went immediately to being eaten alive and trapped underground cannibalism. She got there eventually. Two points out of three.

Trend #3 — The NYT Taylor Swift Interview: The New York Times Magazine named Taylor one of the 30 Greatest Living American Songwriters. In a 30-minute video interview, she talked songwriting, rant bridges, and how Reputation didn’t land until 6–7 years later — specifically calling out “...Ready For It?” Which, not coincidentally, is tonight’s Hits Different song.

🎉 THE BIG PERSONAL WIN

Jen paid off her undergraduate student loans today. First thing this morning. After nearly 20 years. She sat with it for a minute. We all should.

🎻 THE MUSIC MAN — A WEEKEND IN TWO ACTS

Tim’s favorite musical came to Broadway in Wichita. Friday night: Jen and Tim went, then debriefed over cocktails at Goldfinch. Saturday: Tim’s mom Brenda, Jen’s sons Nick and Nathan, and Tim’s son Riley and his girlfriend Hailey all went together — followed by a family dinner at Sabor (get the salmon). Nathan is the theater kid fresh off a Broadway trip to NYC. Nicholas plays trumpet in band. The Music Man was made for this exact family moment.

Shoutout to our local loves: Broadway in Wichita, Goldfinch, and Sabor.

🎵 HITS DIFFERENT: “...Ready For It?” — Taylor Swift

From Reputation (2017). Assigned to Rachel. Timed perfectly with the NYT interview drop.

Rachel’s take: queen energy, the bass drop kills, and it should be licensed to EDM shows with laser lights immediately. She is filing this under party songs that hit. Also: she officially declared herself a Swifty. We knew this would happen.

Jen’s take: hype song since day one. Volume all the way up. Not six or seven years — since the beginning.

Here we are.

SPEAKER_03

Episode 43 of So This Happened. Cheers.

SPEAKER_02

Happy episode 43, Jen.

SPEAKER_03

Yay. Happy episode 43 to you, my dear. We have our favorite rose here. Yeah, it's a pretty bottle. I already threw it in the trash though, so I'm not gonna go grab it and show it.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's flirting something. Flirty awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Yummy. Flirt of So This Happened. Oh my god, it's so delicious, though. You know, it's a chilly day, but it's okay. Rose anyway. Yes, Jud. Just wrote a song. Jesus. Hitler, calm down. Oh my gosh, we have a lot to get through tonight. Yeah, so talking, took another trip to Broadway and Wichita. We had a family full circle moment in our house. I had a very big personal one that just happened today. And we're bringing back one of our original segments, The Trend Decoder, where Rachel has no idea what's coming. No. We've also got Hits Different at the end with a Taylor Swift song that is extremely relevant to this news today. If you know, you know. Let's go. First off, if you see merch, like merch, buy merch in our merch store, which we will link in the show notes. And please follow and subscribe on YouTube and Spotify. We love you guys, but we don't want we don't want you guys to miss a moment. So we do.

SPEAKER_02

I think I think maybe we need more options in our merch store as well. We have two lines, so I think though it is the season of change for everyone. Yeah. Um, including both Jen and the summer, baby. So we're gonna have some new stuff coming out. I just have an inkling.

SPEAKER_03

I have an inkling too. I have an inkling. Changing some seasons.

SPEAKER_02

So there's gonna be some more, some more reasons to buy some solid merch. Honestly, I love the tank chop. I wear it all the time. I want all of it. I know too. It's good quality.

SPEAKER_03

I've been in a long sleeve like sweatshrew neck like thing lately. Um, I'm loving them. I I maybe it's like the cool mornings or whatever, but I'm just like get me a crew neck and leggings, please.

SPEAKER_02

Even in the summertime, we like to keep our house cold. So it's like I like to like I get out of the shower, but it's so cold in there because it's AC. Yeah. So I like to get all cozy in my stuff, even then, and we've been having really chilly mornings.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh, we have especially this morning. I am walked out on the porch and almost turned around and walked back in. Oh no, 31 degrees, what?

SPEAKER_02

Yes, but then but then again, I turned around this evening and made some sun tea out on the porch. Like that kind of day, yeah. So, like cold in the mornings, hot in the evenings, but that's the kind of weather I love. I wish it's like that all the time. Yeah, I want to move somewhere where it's like that all the time, maybe one day. I don't know. I love which ta I'll probably stay here my whole life.

SPEAKER_03

So very much, or at least around here.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

All right, so we are headed right into Trend Decoder. Oh god. I'm so excited to bring this back. Was it Tracy that requested that we bring this back?

SPEAKER_02

It was, it was. Tracy, we love you. We love you.

SPEAKER_03

Thanks for listening, and thanks for being an amazing friend.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you for being an amazing person. You're an amazing, awesome woman. You get shit done. That's right. You work hard, you know what it's about, and I appreciate that because that brought us back to our OG segment. Also, have fun. I have fun with this one, even though it makes me feel like an idiot because I don't know what the hell's going on in this world of trends or whatever, but alright, hit me, you know. And that even being said, I've even had more time on my hands to scroll in the evenings, like on things, but I probably don't know what any of this is. Because I've also had less time lately to talk to my friends that know about it. Yeah. So like I have no idea what's going on. So this is probably even the better, best time to hit me completely out of left field.

SPEAKER_03

We are gonna, yes, we will definitely be doing that tonight. I have a feeling. I'm so excited. I need to warm up. So this is so I feel like the first one's pretty easy. So to recap, this is when I read each trend name. I just read it cold, and Rachel will guess what it means. I will reveal the answer with the context, and then we'll kind of riff off it for a little while and provide our own insight. So okay. Trend number one. All right, hit me. Alleluia.

SPEAKER_02

Is this biblical? What do you think? Is it oh, it's basketball season? Is it like all oop? I mean wait, okay, wait, wait, wait. I'm not sure, I forget how this even works. I don't even know how I get points in this game anymore. Oh, our point system. We forgot to bring that into the game. We'll just go with it. So it is basketball. No. I can tell you. I'm sorry, Ally Alleluia. Alleluia. Alleluia Is it like a I'm sorry, I'm not very well cultured. Is it have to do with her religion, like Allah?

SPEAKER_03

So the word hallelujah is a Christian term for yay. Yes, correct. But Allah is also cra I don't know. Allah's God. So whoever's God.

SPEAKER_02

Some's God. Yeah. Some's God. Some people's God. Yes. Okay, so what am I so I'm sorry, is this a meme? Or give can I have like a s can I have a genre of of trend so to work with, please.

SPEAKER_03

Request. It's don't give me too much. So it's it's a good thing. Um it's one of those things where people make a reel of something they like. So it's a real it can be.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay, it's a real. It can be, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It's typically a real or a TikTok.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so I feel like it'd be something like the allelujah. I feel like that's something that you would be like, oh, if here I go again with basketball, if you made like a shot out of nowhere. Oh, or like I saw this one once that like men were throwing chicken wings in little cups of ranch. That looked ideal. I love chicken wings and ranch. So that sounds like a something you would put allelujah over, like in a subtext. Um, perhaps allelujah would be like, Look, this man has a bedspring and has a nine to five job and no kids. Alleluia. Maybe look, someone made my drink perfectly at this random coffee shop. Alleluia. Okay. That's what I would put my Alleluia subtext over in a reel.

SPEAKER_03

Do you? Rachel, I have to tell you. What did I do? You freaking nailed it. I did. So here's what it is. So it's usually like a picture of or or a video uh, you know, one of those six, seven second videos where it's of something beautiful, and then it's from it's like wine poured perfectly. Hallelujah. Woke up and my hair looked amazing, hallelujah, and it's a whole list of things that somebody would say hallelujah about.

SPEAKER_02

I love that your comparisons are oh, perfectly pour a glass of wine in our hair, and mine was like chicken wings in a ranch to each their own hallelujah, baby.

SPEAKER_03

That's where my brain went first. But here's the thing it's all too funny. Um the audio, the song, you know, the you know, the audio that they put to the video is uh it's Everything Alleluia by Justin Bieber.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, see, I don't know that song.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I don't either. I only know it from the trend. Maybe I've heard it. I'm sure I've heard it. Honestly, I'm getting kind of tired of it. Although I do love the positivity so much. And no, I have not made my own Alleluia video, but I guess now I will.

SPEAKER_00

Well, maybe now we need to make a chicken ranch one, a perfect date one. Like.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I'll make us our own. We should Alleluia. Perfect. Yes. Write it down. Write down our Alleluia's.

SPEAKER_02

I will. We have new goals now. I'll think these are gonna give us ideas for our stuff.

SPEAKER_03

So, okay, so yours is How do you spell that? Ala. I'll know what you're talking about. Just like that, Queen. So you said what? You said I said like chicken wings falling perfectly into ranch or blue cheese. Okay, write that one down. Just the chicken wings plus ranch. Chick wing plus chicken and what else did you say?

SPEAKER_02

I said something about what did I say?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. I okay, I said perfectly back. I said perfectly poured wine. I think I said something about a perfect day or a perfect.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. What is perfect?

SPEAKER_03

What is perfect anyway? It's a fairy tale.

SPEAKER_02

For me, but when you said a perfectly poured glass of wine, it made me think when someone at a restaurant gives me get a glass that's very clean.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, perfectly clean glass. Clean glass. You do love clean things very, very much, and I appreciate that about you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that makes me feel good. What did I say?

SPEAKER_03

I said some other good things. Yeah, there were some. We can run it back. Yeah, we'll run it back and we'll make it into a thing. Perfectly poured glass of wine. I woke up and my hair looks amazing. Oh yeah. Um, let's see, your pillow is cold when you go to bed at night. Fuck yes.

SPEAKER_02

Hallelujah. I feel like I had so many other things. Oh, I said when they make your coffee perfect at a random coffee shop.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that is so perfect. Hallelujah. Coffee. Like the other day at Coca Dolce, you had the lavender, and I had the half lavender, half pistachio, and it was delicious. And especially when it's at a new spot, which is what I honestly I honestly have been so happy with our coffee breaks. I know, I'm loving the coffee break series so much. It's a blast.

SPEAKER_02

I I've been happy with all my drinks. And but when I'm not in Wichita and I go to a coffee spawn, I hate to say it, but I haven't been very pleased with anything. But I also have not tried anything because I've had a couple bad experiences out of Wichita, so I've just been bringing my own coffee. Yeah. So I bring my own coffee that I make and then I put it in a jar and I bring it cold. Oh, that's so smart. And it's coffee beans from the spice merchant here locally. Oh, we love the spice merchant. In Wichita, Spice Merchant in Wichita. Love it. I bring that coffee with me cold in a big jar, so I can just drink that. But every time I've gone to like any random coffee shop and like a smile, I'm just like, what is this? It's all milk. I'm paying for caffeine and you're giving me milk. Yes. And I understand a lot of people don't like that, but I I that's what I'm there for. I don't want to pay for milk. I can go to Dylan's and get that. That's right. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I just thought of my last hallelujah. It's a big one. Oh, okay. I'll write it down. Yes, this is a big one. I can't believe I forgot this. This is my big news for today. I paid off my student loans. Yes. Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_02

Anything to celebrate? See, I love this trend. But how do we how are they spelling this? Okay, so it's Can you tell me because I think I'm gonna do it injustice if I I mean I do love that, but it is I don't think we should put that nonsense.

SPEAKER_03

I think So it is H A L L E L U J A H. Hallelujah. Okay. There you go.

SPEAKER_02

See, it sounds like something else. Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_01

Queen. I think you're supposed to say Hallelujah. Hallelujah. See, that's how you compare this to me. Hallelujah.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, are we celebrating Indian food? No. Sorry. I mean, I will hallelujah to that. That is my white girl answer. No. I love Indian food. I don't know what is my favorite one, but I would love to try more. Yeah. I love curry, but I love curry. Don't know which one I prefer because there's so many kinds of curry. Okay. Oh my god, look at the difference. Yeah. That's silly. Okay, so yes, she paid off our student loans. How many people have done that? Please comment.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we would love to know. And also, how did you feel afterwards? Because I know I had to sit there and sit in it for a little while this morning. I got, it was the first thing I did, but got up, paid my student loan off, and then I just sat there like How many years does that take you? And also It was like 20 years, it was either 19 or 20 years, somewhere in there. Honestly, Jen, I'm so happy for you because what a relief.

SPEAKER_02

I'll shoulders. But also I hate the wear. Oh my god. I mean, I know. You know. Oh, I know. It's a mixed, it's a predatory. It's a mixed pleasure. Yeah. Are we supposed to be happy about this? Yes. Or are we supposed to be like, okay, well, technically, you shouldn't have paid them off because your credit would be better.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, because of the credit loan has yeah, the credit history.

SPEAKER_02

Your credit will be better if you never pay anything off.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't I did look it up on Credit Karma to just kind of see my credit age. And this only knocks three years off my credit history because of my master's program, which by the way.

SPEAKER_02

That sounds bad. What do you mean?

SPEAKER_03

Only it only knocks three three years off my credit history. So you want your credit history to be long. So I only knocked off three years because of my master's degree that I still have to pay for. So I am still paying student loans. It's just my undergrad is done.

SPEAKER_02

No, but I'm sorry. I hate the world has put us in a space that we say only three years. Oh, I know. Do you know how much shit can happen in three years? Oh my god, I know. If one of my heaven forgive me for saying this, please don't do it to me. But if one of my parents were to die today, I'd have to take a loan out to pay for the fucking everything. I know. I don't want to pay that for fucking 20 years. How wouldn't that time? You wouldn't. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Funeral, for one thing, a funeral is nowhere near the cost of an educ a college education. It can be a funeral to be incredibly extravagant. But deserves have to be.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. I'm just saying, like, that's freaking crazy.

SPEAKER_03

It is crazy. Speaking of, are we ready for trend number two? Yes. Okay, the trend number two, my top five horror stories. Can you guess what that trend is all about? Top two wait top two horror stories? Top five horror stories.

SPEAKER_02

Top five horror stories? Well, I'm guessing it's somebody listing their top five horror stories. I'm sorry, is it horror or horror? Horror. Just kidding.

SPEAKER_03

Horror.

SPEAKER_02

Horror.

SPEAKER_03

Another H word. H-O-R-R.

SPEAKER_02

God damn it. Okay, God forgive me. Imagine it's people listing off their major X. So you know, like your type it it sounds like it's already described in the thing.

SPEAKER_03

Just elaborate.

SPEAKER_02

So your top five horror stories? Yeah. Okay. Well, I'd imagine you're going through A, my first option of choice would be it's probably someone this is tough. Yeah. It's probably someone that's like listing off a lot of people are into true crime and stuff, right? Yeah. So like whatever top true crime or terrifying like place in the world that scares them. So like a top serial killer or top thing in the world that scares them. I don't know how how to even answer these because it's so open-ended. But that's what makes this fun, right? Yeah. Okay, so I could give you my top five. Okay, that would be very great. Yes. Is that what's going on? Okay. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And write them down. Oh, great. Okay. All right. Top one. Being eaten alive.

SPEAKER_02

Ow. That sounds terrible. Not in the good way. Yeah. Being buried alive. That sounds terrible. I'm very claustrophobic. I was shot in the drawer when we would play hide and seek. Then I thought it was fun back then.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think I'd find it so fun these days. I feel like we are very fearless. I was also a lot smaller. So better. Now I would be like, fucking get me out of here. I had no concept of mortality. I also think my next biggest fear, I mean, honestly, would be losing the people I love. Does that count? It sounds like a horror story to me. So yeah, losing my parents and my my my sibling, my brother. So that would cause the next three. But I feel like I should come up with something more creative. Ooh, being forced to do something I don't want to do. Yes. Like if someone forced me to kill someone I love. Oh, that'd be terrible. I wouldn't forced organized crime. I wouldn't do it. I'd kill myself instead. Sorry, we're getting dark here. We're really getting dark. But you said the horror. Yeah, that's what we're talking about. I don't let me think. Okay, so end of days. Running out of food. Being trapped underground would be terrible. So that kind of goes with being buried alive, but like if we were trapped underground with multiple people.

SPEAKER_03

Ooh, and then they start eating each other because they're desperate.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know that I would ever be able to eat another human, Jen.

SPEAKER_03

So this has been fun. Do you want to know what the turn girl is? You want to change the subject, don't you?

SPEAKER_02

No, I want to hear more. I want to know if you think you would be able to eat another human. Even if they looked at you and they knew they were gonna die, and they were like, listen, guys, I want you to live because someone will come for you, but I want you to eat. Because this is what happened to a soccer team, you know, that soccer team, wherever that's what happened, they were like, hey, you can't eat me, but there was one person that just literally couldn't. Like they literally couldn't, they kept puking it up if you tried to eat.

SPEAKER_03

Because I I just feel like I feel like that would be me, but you don't know what's gonna happen to you in that situation. You really don't, but I feel like, oh my god, what if I do this and then someone does come and then I didn't have to do that, and then how can I live with myself and I might as well be dead anyway, so you can eat me.

SPEAKER_02

But at least they gave you the blessing. I'm saying if the person gave you the blessing. I don't know if that would matter. I think I'd maybe go, and then I'd be like a little bunny.

SPEAKER_03

No, I'll just I don't think I could do it. With the wall, thanks. So here's the trend.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, I don't even want to answer. I'm sorry. This I don't know how to answer this question. No, I mean you Oh, wait, wait. We could go more. Oh, I think I went too dark. Should I go lighter? I'm sorry. If you want to do that.

SPEAKER_03

Give me two no two examples of lighter.

SPEAKER_02

I just want to see if you're gonna get close. Okay, let me think of lighter trends. Okay. The horror. What was the give me the original trend again? My top five. Let me go lighter because I went dark. Five top five. Okay. I mean, those are horror stories. Okay, so top five horror stories. Okay, farting while sitting on a man that you like. Write that one down.

SPEAKER_03

Are you serious? Not farting on a man. That's amazing, Rachel.

SPEAKER_02

Farting on a man you like. Yeah. Like while sitting on his lap. Let's see what else. I mean, everything's gonna be just bodily related. Let's see. Oh, talking to some in a long conversation with broccoli in your teeth. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, the okay, these ex- put that one down. These examples is close or is what the trend is.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, my dark brain got so far off, Jid. That's why you were like, shut up, Rachel. You didn't mean this. Okay. So let me let me read.

SPEAKER_02

Let me read the description. I'm I'm like, the bitches that this is all that's happened to you, that's a good life.

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's funny because you didn't exactly what I knew you were gonna do. It's not so, but here it is. It's not about actual horror films. People look in the on the trend, people list five real life situations, everyday annoyances or personal fears that feel like a horror movie. Oh my god for them. Like it's set to a Katy Perry sound. Funny, relatable, highly personal. For example, for me, do you remember the time that we recorded an entire episode with no audio story? For me, this is so you know, okay, so I eventually got there.

SPEAKER_02

After you're getting like, okay, Rachel, you're killing the vibe. I was like, Oh no, you weren't killing the vibe.

SPEAKER_03

You were just getting so far in the wrong direction. I'm like, okay, we need to reel this back. I appreciate that about you, but I appreciate that about you.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Anyone watch Letter Kenny?

SPEAKER_02

We do. But then eventually I was like, oh wait, like this is real life. We're trending. Okay, what are they doing on trending? They're not talking about that. They're talking about stuff like this. Like, but I don't know if they're talking about stuff like I mean, you were close to like your ic.

SPEAKER_03

You were you got there at the very beginning, and then I was like, no, let's see where Rachel's brain goes.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, I've had so many icks in my life. Yeah. Oh my gosh. The people I've encountered in this world are insane. It's amazing how dynamic people are. I could not tell you. I the spectrum is crazy that I could tell you of people that I've met that like are beautiful. Terrible people. It's amazing. Oh, same. Absolutely. It's insane. Yeah. Or just the people, honestly, that are beautiful that they think I'm insane because some of these things have happened. Like I farted up.

SPEAKER_03

Did you fart on while sitting on a guy that you liked? I did once, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think we all do. When I was younger and I was sitting on a lap of a man in high school. I think it was prior to high school. I think it was senior year. Yeah, yeah. Oh no, no, no, no. It was eighth grade. He was a total tool. He was talking like Well then he deserved it. And I hope that's a good idea. That's exactly what I said. I think I told the other girl that he was with. I was like, because she came up to me before her homecoming. She was like, Rachel, like he's he asked me to go too. And I know that he asked you to go. And I was like, Oh, thank you so much for telling me. Love her, Lizzie. Or Liz, whatever. She's amazing. Love her. She's awesome. She's so smart. And she's fucking a girl's girl. And T Gamer told me that. And I was like, girl, I kind of already knew, but I really appreciate you telling me that because that gives me extra insight. And also, I'm gonna fire on his lap later. Woo! Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I can't believe I'm saying this like a black cat.

SPEAKER_03

That's why people love us.

SPEAKER_02

But I did. I hella did, and I don't even think he noticed. And if he did, he probably thought he did it. Honestly, because he was so stupid. Uh well, dodged a bullet there. Sat on it.

SPEAKER_03

Farted on it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. That is so stupid. Hilarious. Oh my god. Okay, just cheers to like stupid events that happen. Okay, thank you. Make me feel better about that. Golly, but you know what?

SPEAKER_03

That's hilarious. I'm really excited about the next one. So this next one is less a trend, more of a really big topic of today's converse, like today specifically. Perfect. Tuesday's conversation. And I want to hear what your thoughts are that maybe shit might be about. Okay, so this trend is the New York Times Taylor Swift interview. I've never seen it. Nope. When did that happen? It came out today. Today? Yep. 30-minute video that the New York Times did.

SPEAKER_01

You knew I didn't see it.

SPEAKER_03

Nope. Yes, I didn't know. What's the question? That is the trend, and so I want you to guess what they might be talking about. Because this will be fun for me and them. What I think they're talking about? What do you think that Taylor Swift was talking about in her interview with the New York Times today?

SPEAKER_02

I imagine that they are questioning her and Travis's wedding. An engagement. Honeymoon. All that. So I guess engagement, honeymoon wedding. I also imagine they would be discussing how hot her albums are happening and how one is you can't buy it anywhere. What is that? That reputation one?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, it is. Very good. That's my best friend.

SPEAKER_02

I'm learning. Look, she's so proud of me. Yeah, the reputation album, you can't find it anywhere, and it's so fucking expensive when you can. Yep. So I think that's hot hot news. So they're probably just raving about that. Which is stupid, because you can't find it anywhere. So Taylor. Re-release. More albums, please produce some more. My best friend needs one. Yes, yes, yes. Also, I imagine they probably were talking about the draft a little bit, but I feel like they're talking about her upcoming future because where do we see Taylor in the future? You know? What's going on there? That's a really good question. That's what I would ask if I was asking her anything. Also, has she had any work done? Because she looks amazing.

SPEAKER_03

I always wonder that too. I don't think she does maybe a little lip filler.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think she does. I think she's just honestly built as like a skinny queen. Like, and I don't I don't want to say skinny because that's a good one. She's a healthy queen. Yes. I think she is I think she has been blessed with a beautiful metabolism and such. And I think that she does a lot of work to keep it. And I and I um I also think she does a lot of work to build muscle on it. Yes, because over the years I've seen her grow a woman's body. I you know what I mean. Yes. I mean that with all respect. Yes. Versus just being skin and bones. And I respect that. I think that's amazing. That's awesome. You know, like what is her name? Carrie something. Also Underwood?

SPEAKER_03

Carrie something. I mean, there is a Carrie Underwood, but I don't know a whole lot about her, but she is very talented.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know. Whoever works for the muscles, get it. That's right. And you should. That's right. And you need to. I need to. Inspiration. Yeah. And for you to be able to do that on top of your talent, go girl. But also please eat a burger every now and then. Oh. If you're not already, please do. Or steak. Oh fuck I'm a step. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh yeah, that steak. But I'm just saying. I think she looks I think that's it. I don't know. Did I cover it? Okay. Do I need more answers? I don't know. I I like your answer. Okay. I don't know what does it answer. I don't know what else they would talk about in the interview.

SPEAKER_03

I think you'll be a little surprised, and I think this will be a good surprise. So she's talking about me? Yeah, of course she's talking about. No, I just talking about her podcast and how much she loves so how so this has been. Oh, she does have podcasts. Of course. Yeah, she loves our podcast. Uh huh. Yes. Okay, so she the reason it's trending and the topic of the thing is she was named as by New York Times, one of the 30 greatest living American songwriters. She put out a 30-minute video interview. Oh my gosh, there were so many amazing parts of this interview. Yes, she does talk about reputation, but she's talking about it lyrically. I love about she talks about how Reputation didn't even really land for people for about six or seven years, and then people were all of a sudden like, oh my gosh, specifically the song Ready for It, which by the way is our it's different segment tonight. So yay for that. Yeah. Um, that was strategically placed. I listened to it. I'm so ready to hear you talk about ready for it. That'll be here in a minute. She talked about rant bridges, which I feel like Are You Ready For It? Doesn't have a rant bridge in it. But maybe the next song we'll do does have a rant bridge. And this is when she and it's a term that she and Jack Antinoff kind of came up together. So she collaborates a lot with another artist named Jack Antinoff. He's a producer, but he also has this band called the Bleachers. And rant bridges are like when there's like, you know, there's the verse, then there's the chorus, then the verse again, and the chorus, and then there's a bridge. A bridge sounds different, and and then they go back to a chorus and maybe another verse. So rant bridges just keep going and going, like, and another thing, and another thing, and another, you know, yeah, kind of like a rap. Yeah, yeah, or just like really like she's might be yelling, or she might just be like really going off about something. I love that. I I love it, and yeah, and so Cruel Summer has a Rant Bridge. You will hear, and I you probably have heard, and you will love. I I bet she talks about just kind of like her process of songwriting and how things just kind of float into her head at the most serendipitous and wildest times. She wrote Elizabeth like the uh Elizabeth Taylor originated from a conversation that she was having in the car with Travis Kelsey, talking and how she was just going on and on and on about how amazing and iconic Elizabeth Taylor was and her violet eyes and all that kind of stuff. And then she had to immediately like the song, a melody, and some words. Yeah, she had to vote, yeah, she voice records it so she can hear the sound too. Like she's just singing into I love that! Yeah, it's so amazing. Her process is incredible. I'm not obsessed. Maybe a little. So clever. So yeah, I was just really excited to get some of the insights into her writing process as a writer myself, and I just completely blown away by this interview. Mind you, I've still only watched half of it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, how long was this interview?

SPEAKER_03

It's a 30-minute interview, and I've I'm I'm right dead smack in the middle of it. Where do you find this interview? At New York Times. I think I have the link up right next to this. Maybe we can we can put it in the show notes. Oh, yeah, I'll link it in the show notes. New York Times. I'll not put that down. But yes, I will I will link the video in the show notes for sure, so you guys can go check that out. It's so good and so inspiring. And I'm so excited that we're gonna be covering Ready for It in tonight's It's Different Segment. I think it's gonna be great. I'm so excited to gush about that song with you. But first, before we get to that, I went with my lovely husband this weekend to see Broadway and Wichita's production of The Music Man. Have you ever seen The Music Man?

SPEAKER_02

So when I think of The Music Man, what I think of firsthand in my brain, that's how it works, is the I think it's Pixar or Disney short. Have you ever seen that one of the Linky Man with all of the trumpets and instruments attached to his pocket? I think at one point he might fall down a set of stairs or something, and he has all these noises that he makes with all the things attached to that as far. That's what I think of when you say the music. Oh, which is that's really cute. Which is not probably at all related. No, no, no, no, no. What I think of when I think the music man, I think of that short.

SPEAKER_03

Do you know what I'm talking about? I do know what you're talking about. I do love the Disney Pixar shorts, and that one was yeah, because they used to have like an entire like an entire anthology of, or I don't think anthology is the correct word, but compilation of the shorts, and you could just watch a whole thing. I love this. Yeah, they're really I like the old man playing, the old man playing. Playing chess and turning there was the birds on the on the phone. And they squeak and they squeak when they run into each other squeak. And then there's the one that just kind of wins in the middle and they all just sing.

SPEAKER_02

And he goes, ha! And he makes a different noise than them, and he's so much bigger, and they're all like this annoying fuck. But then they like him at the end of it, right? Yes. Or he like falls over and they're like trying to peck his little feet off. And so me. They bully him, yeah. It's a lesson learned. Yeah. Yeah. There's also the one about the the what do you call them? Shoot. The jack-alope.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god, I remember the jackalope. The jackalope. Oh, I loved it. It had a song. Yes, he jumps around. Love the jackalope. Yeah. That's one of my favorite. Anything that has a song to go with it, I am going to completely love for real. But the music man is not that as fantastic as the Disney Pixar channel. The Music Man originally was a movie, though. It's not animated, and it's definitely not Pixar-ish. It was actually a movie, I think originally in the 60s, is when it was came it, is when it came out, and then it was eventually turned into a Broadway production. Yeah. But it's set in It's either 1930 or 1810. It's we can fact check it right now. Yeah, you know what we can. Let's fact check that. Let's check. When was the music band what? Set. What year is it set in? I oh god, it was such a beautiful time, but for some I The Music Man takes place during the summer of 1912. 1912. Well, I was way off. It was neither of what I guessed. 1912. Okay. Beautiful, aesthetically beautiful time. I think Victorian Houses, and you know, and you know, the four guys that sing the quartet. You know, they sing in harmony. Yeah, those guys, they're really cool. Is this another thing we have to look up? Yeah, because this is a good thing. I think he just called them a quartet. It's a quartet of men singing in harmony. I feel like there's a like an actual word for that, though. What do you call? No, that's it.

SPEAKER_02

Assemble alternate spelling quartet, yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So those guys. We're talking uh steam engine trains like running through, and so so here's the thing about the music Capella.

SPEAKER_02

So it just depends how many is in it. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

It's always a cappella, but it depends how many in these are. Oh, and the harmonies are gorgeous. I love them so much. The plot of this thing was this kind of sleazy salesman. He is sell he sells, I think, instruments is what yeah. And he has reputation de speaking of reputation, reputation definitely precedes him. He is known in the industry to be um, he can sell anything. He can sell anything, anything, anything. And so much so he even falls in love and gets this librarian to fall in love with him. Which I don't know, Tim and I had a very long conversation about why Miriam the librarian really likes the salesman. And I for me, I had a really hard time believing that she really fell in love with him for real, for real. And he reminded me of the way things were socially in those times, and how she was already a spinster, and if she didn't follow her options, then you know that whole situation. She was closed off to options because the of her situation was like, Yeah, she was already in a small town Iowa.

SPEAKER_02

And socially she wasn't accepted by anybody else because she smart, because she's smart. Yes, and these days we can say that, but back then, you know, she only had so many options.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It's funny you say that about that, though. I've I remember like when you said that about the music being created. I thought about this fun fact and I tried to look it up just now. That's what I was being busy about, but I couldn't find it exactly. But the saxophone and all these air instruments, and I can't wish I could give you the exact dates, but there's these amazing facts about how it was created in I think the same time frame.

SPEAKER_03

Oh wow, the saxophone specifically, saxophone specifically, as long as all other air instruments.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh, there were so many created that like this man, he just like his whole being and his whole life was to create these instruments, all these woodwind different instruments, and he constructed all sorts of different pipes and tubes and everything to construct something that would make these beautiful sounds, and he created over 60, over a hundred different shapes of things to try to make different instrumental sounds. And I feel like I've already mentioned this one time. It sounds familiar to me. Where someone we do talk about band on this a lot. I think it was, I think it was when we were talking about live instruments on one of the podcasts, but like how they created this one across that this one that sounded across town of France or somewhere, uh-huh. And that like that is just crazy to me. Who has the time to manually build tubes tubes of sound? Sorry, I got way out of the street. No, that is fantastic. But it made me want to look up what the time frame was and if it aligned with that. No, I think that is. I think that it did align with that time frame, is why it made me think that.

SPEAKER_03

So we're so the birth of jazz, maybe I wonder. Because like when when was the birth of jazz?

SPEAKER_02

It's gotta be around, but things are what culture you're looking at, and what time frame and what area for sure. But that's a whole different history lesson.

SPEAKER_03

I know that's not what our podcast is. No, no, we're I mean, we do love the arts, as you guys definitely know. We're vaguely informed and vaguely informed. We're vaguely going to inform you, and yeah, just the same way that I'm really great at explaining a plot line of this Broadway plate we just saw. Oh my god, yes, and that's how I trailed off. I'm sorry. No, no, no, hold on. I just I okay, so for one, again, absolutely untouchable. So here's the rest of this story. So Tim and I went to see it Friday night, had a wonderful time. It was fantastic. Afterwards, we went, so also just so you know, Music Man is something that it's Tim's favorite musical. He grew up watching it, he has seen it hundreds of times.

SPEAKER_02

He told me that he had to go to this eater.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, he claimed dibs on getting to go to this one with me, which is fine.

SPEAKER_02

I couldn't go anyways, so I was like, fine.

SPEAKER_03

So, yeah, so he had dibs to go because as you know, or maybe you don't. I have a part I work in partnership with Broadway, Wichita.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, our boss asked Jen over here.

SPEAKER_03

And so that's why that's why we're going to all of these plays all the time because Broadway and Wichita is amazing.

SPEAKER_02

And Broadway and Wichita is amazing.

SPEAKER_03

And and so is Ballet Wichita. And so is Bally Wichita. We love you guys endlessly. But so Tim grew up watching this. It's a big thing in Tim's family. So Tim and I went and we watched The Music Man, and then we were reeling, just completely so excited, especially Tim afterwards that we were like nightcap. Okay, let's go to Goldfinch and just really dive in. Oh, they go back to Goldfinch. Yeah, we went. This is becoming like our after the thing place. This is our nightcap place. It is so close to it, it's so adorable. The cocktails are incredible. They also have his beer that he loves, Peroni. That's like one of his favorite beers. So, of course, he's gonna love that. I'm just such a coach, it was such a cute place. And at night, I love it. Staff is amazing, they're top-notch. The staff at Goldfinch.

SPEAKER_02

Very, very good caring.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they are. Love them very much. The next day, so we went and gushed all about Music Man at Goldfinch afterwards. Wonderful time. And then the next day, it was so much fun because Tim's mom, Brenda, had bought tickets for herself, both of my boys, Tim's son Riley, and his girlfriend Haley. And the five of them all went together. So you got Brenda, Nick, Nathan, Riley, and Haley all going to the Music Man together. And Brenda's so- I know, she's so wonderful. And so then we got to regush about it as a family. The next night over dinner, we went to Sabor to have dinner all together and to gush about the Music Man. And it was so much fun. Oh my god, it was amazing. I had salmon.

SPEAKER_02

I'm into Sabor.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god, I love Sabor. Sabor is Brenda's favorite place.

SPEAKER_02

I love it. And I have yet to be there.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, we should jeff we should definitely go have Sabor together sometime. I don't know. What is it? Oh, it's delicious. It's like it's delicious.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, enough said.

SPEAKER_03

It's just wonderful. It's like Latin fusion. Very Latin fusion.

SPEAKER_02

I love anything with the word fusion.

SPEAKER_03

So we're thinking like they have papoosas, they have empanadas, they have ceviche, they have plantains, they have oh my god, just it sounds like such a sassy restaurant. But it's so clean. Everything on the case. It's very elevated. La la la. It's wonderful. Oh my god, it's fantastic. I'll get in there. But it's Brenda's favorite place to go. And so we we usually go there on her birthday, but or any fancy celebratory thing that you know that our family does. And so we went to Sabor and ate delicious food and gushed about Broadway and Wichita's Music Man. And it was so much fun. To get so the cool thing about the Music Man is for my sons, you know, we have my son Nathan, who is the theater kid, like he loves theater, went on a you know tri dis district trip to New York City for spring break to see all of the Broadway players.

SPEAKER_01

And he fucking thrived.

SPEAKER_03

He had the best time ever. So he went to this with Brenda. My son Nicholas, who's graduating in two weeks, has played the plays the trumpet in the band and has been doing that since he was in fifth or sixth grade, which is a long time now, six, seven years. And it was just a perfect mix of both of their interests. Then you mix in the entire family who already loves this incredible musical, The Music Man. And wow, just what a memory I think that we all made this weekend. It was so cool.

SPEAKER_02

I'm glad. Yeah. I'm so happy that that worked out well for everybody. And oh my gosh. I know music. I think that it's good too, like that you get to have more experiences in the theater with him after he came back from a huge freaking theatrical event. Yeah. Nicholas is always into everything as long as the family's into it. I just love that. I love that you guys have such a tight family bond. I think it's beautiful. And I I honestly think like that's just because you're such just like a warm, like welcome person to like they're like just like, yeah, we love you because you're open to who we are. That is for sure. I you know I love their little selves. It's just amazing to see them growing up and being so respectful. Oh, thank you. And how like sweet they've grown. Like I can't even deal with it myself. I'm over here crying for you, and I've not they're not even my boy. But I saw them like when the I met them when I wasn't even this tall and they were half my tallness and I was like, You're so tall. And now they're taller and their voices are deeper. The first time I heard their voices deep, I was like, who the fuck is upstairs? And it was your sons. And I was like, and then she was like that. What the hell?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I am. You raised a man? What?

SPEAKER_02

Well, bananas. For sure. I'm sorry, I had to go there as the luxury aunt.

SPEAKER_03

As the luxury aunt, that's right. You're definitely that's what I'm calling myself.

SPEAKER_02

It's the luxury aunt.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh. I love that because you're luxurious. And it's a luxury to have it as an aunt. Thank you. So after that, I'm so excited for this next. Alright, so are you ready for our hits different segments? Yes, sure. Cheers to Taylor Slip. Cheers to Taylor Slipch and to the It Took Too Long to Love song, Ready for It. Are you ready for it?

SPEAKER_02

See, okay. So you want me to give you my.

SPEAKER_03

Just dive in, yes. I am so excited to hear this.

SPEAKER_02

I don't even have that, like, much to say because like it just hits good. Like oh, it hits amazing.

SPEAKER_03

I love this song so much.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry, I didn't drink after we tears. For starters, I listened to it for like I've heard it before. Okay. I knew you had to. Um, and but when I told Kayla which song it was, like, and I didn't realize I had heard it before. Uh-huh. And I was in the kitchen when you texted me the song that was my assignment uh with her. And so then she just went and I was like, I know what song it is. And so I love that. So, first of all, it hits different. Like with everybody, everyone knows that. Also, so then I was like, okay, well, I have to play the whole song again. Even though I know I've heard it before, I have to re-listen to it with you, and I'm gonna listen to it to you. So I played it in this in the kitchen with Kayla while we were catching up, and she was like, Yeah, she was like, This is one of my favorites, too. She's like, I think this is one of my favorite albums. And I was like, You have to start requesting songs. Yeah. She likes more of the sad songs. I don't like that much of the sad songs, but anyway, so sorry, back to this song specifically. So she went, just the fact alone that she made that noise, and you and I knew, and I don't even know that many Taylor Swift songs that thoroughly. That says a lot. Yeah, it really does. That's amazing. That says a lot, honestly. Well done, Taylor. Because right, like that's a hook. That means you're gonna get, yeah, exactly the hook from everybody. Amazing done. Amazingly done. Like, hell yeah. Also, you know, as a gal that used to go to some shows with like laser lights and stuff like that, like this shit could be played with some laser lights and shit and some DJ in. Oh my god, a remix. Are you ready for it with Taylor in the background? I just don't think that they can buy her rights for that for that little clip. You know how every other song can be remixed? Hers I bet can't be. Which honestly is kind of unfortunate for that crowd because she could so I don't I don't know how that all works. But you know that would be an amazing bass drop. Oh my god, right? Could you imagine? Like if it was if it was in like a ravie situation, are you ready for and then like whatever else happens after that? But Taylor, consider it. Because that that on the re-release. Because that is yeah, on the re-re-release, because there's like you've already re-released it, right?

SPEAKER_03

No. Oh. She is not even Taylor's versioning it. Well, I'm just saying, like she can re-release it. For like people I don't know with the vultures.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know how that works with like remixers, like who remix songs, like putting it on.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that she would just have to collab or like allow someone to like it. They'd have to provide rights or something. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I imagine it'd be fucking expensive. So the record alone is fucking expensive. Yeah, so I'd imagine just are you ready for it with new voice? Like, which is crazy. AI is probably gonna fuck that up too.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no, no, no, because she no, because today, is it today? This week, she literally filed a deep fake lawsuit against like anybody that tries to AI any of her shit. She's on top of it. She is a queen. Smart. We should do that with us. With our voices.

SPEAKER_02

Because we're so special.

SPEAKER_03

We're gonna trade, we're gonna, yeah. No faking our voices.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, unless you're gonna make us famous, do it. Dude, we make us famous. I actually don't really want to be famous, I just wanna be well-rounded. Um, so I really, really enjoyed it. It's upbeat, it's it's fun. She is like queen energy. I don't really know how else to describe it. And I don't really know anything about the backstory. So from just me front-facing hearing it and listening to the lyrics, I feel like she's really taking ownership of who she is and her queen energy. Yeah. I I like I love hate using the term queen energy because you know it can get like overused, but I mean, like, she is just like, this is what's happening. Like, get ready for the crown. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Are you ready for it?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I feel like I really like that energy too, like, especially like with new beginnings, also with different transitions of life. A lot of people can relate to it, so I think it's good. But I don't really have like a whole lot of other feedback because the lyrics honestly are like repetitive, so it's it's it's just a party song. So it it it is what it is. It's a party song, it's good, it kills, but the bass kills, the drop kills. I think you should throw I think you should eventually allow people to buy rights to it to fucking throw some laser lights in there and have the parties. Like, I think that it would crash at like a show that's like a what do you call those? Like EDM shows or whatever. Because ready for the Yeah, I can just picture like laser lights like just doing some crazy stuff. Yeah. I know that sounds silly, but it's true.

SPEAKER_03

Like, it would crash. I think it would too, and I definitely think you're honest with me. I know she has been lately. I don't know if she's done because I've always loved Taylor Sliff's music, but I didn't really, it's so funny. I didn't realize I was a fan until I accidentally found myself at Reputation Tour at Arrowhead. Like, I didn't go to this concert on purpose. My friend Stephanie, I was doing her a favor the next day. I was protect providing photography for an event that she was in charge of that happened to be in Kansas City, and she's like, Hey, I can't pay you, but what if I buy you a ticket to this Taylor Swift concert that I'm going to? And I'm like, dude, sure, sounds awesome to me. I had no idea that I was a Swifty until that night at Arrowhead. No idea. That's when I found out it was a Swifty. And I for I feel like I was going somewhere with that. I mean, I got so excited.

SPEAKER_02

No, I know you got so excited. I was I was saying how I feel like she really should get into like the like rape state. Like, I don't want her to get into the rape, but you know what I mean? Like, I just feel like that music being allowed to be across so many borders is important.

SPEAKER_03

So this is something that I've realized and I've seen her do in the time that I have been a fan. So that would be since about I believe 2018. I know that we've talked about this before when we're talking about Getaway Card. But now I see her release collab versions of her songs nowadays. And so I don't know if she ever does re-release not Taylor's version it, but re-release Reputation with vault tracks. If maybe some of those kind of remixes might come along. We'll see. Also, because you never know. You never know. She's definitely she's a queen marketer. We definitely know that. And she loves to drop, she loves to surprise her fans with a good song drop. That is for damn sure. Yeah. So I don't know. Like, I think you're definitely onto something, it's not unheard of.

SPEAKER_02

I think they're just separate markets that maybe they're like, like that rate, like that crew probably is like, no, we're not even touching her, we're not even gonna reach her. We don't have a way to reach her or whatever. But I'm just saying, like, I don't know, like, you know, there's so many sounds. Like, if I was at a place, even with like just a local DJ or whatever, and they were able to be like, Are you ready for it?

SPEAKER_03

No, this song definitely brings so many vibes. I thought it's fun because I feel like I have a lot of personal ties to most of her songs. Yeah, so tell me about yours a bit. This one, it's just always been one of those, like I love, love, love that it is one of my top top ten Taylor songs. I should make a list of my top tens. But no, do it. This is this is girl, I got those trends to make tomorrow. I know. But it's just I I don't have any personal, oh, this reminds me of this. It's just always been to me a hype song. Like if this song comes on in the car, the volume is all the way up, and I am screaming it at the top of my lungs. It's just always, always not six or seven years for me. It's been since the beginning of this song, since Reputation was released. This song has been my hype song. I love this song.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I was talking to about with Kayla when this she was like, Okay, well, what have your favorites been? And I told her I was I was like, Well, I really liked Opalite. Mirror Ball was cool, but I liked Opalite. What were my other men? I was like, I I it was like I enjoyed Elizabeth Taylor. Yeah. But like it wasn't like a like super, super, but I really enjoyed it. And she was like, she was like, those are not my favorite songs.

SPEAKER_03

I would love to know Kayla's favorite songs. Oh, she likes the sad ones. Oh my gosh, yes, she seems to like the folklore evermore tortured poet. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

She probably but also Reputation or whatever is her like favorite album. It's my favorite album. Oh my god. Yes, that's what I told her. I said, You have to message us, like so Jen can be part of this too, because she's gonna remember what to requ and I said, You need to request some to me. Yes that are your favorite. Oh my gosh. Because maybe I'd love them too, even though they're like sadder songs. Like, I still will like them. It's just for me, my favorites are like I'm not trying to listen to songs right now in my life to feel sad, but also who knows? I might end up fucking be like, yeah, bitch, that's the shit I'm trying to hear.

SPEAKER_03

Well, and it's you never know. It depends how it's recorded. I think so because a lot of the time I find myself with her sad songs. I'm like, that's often something that I'm excited about because I've ever come. I didn't hear it.

SPEAKER_02

It's so funny because me and Kayla love each other so much, but I was like, I was like, oh blah, she was like, I don't like that one.

SPEAKER_03

And I was like, oh, because it's a beat. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it's a I think it's crazy that like, but she but we still love each other, we still get each other, and she was like, Well, I like sad songs. And I was like, that's right, yeah. I was like, I like them too. I just it's not what I choose to listen to. Yeah. Because when I listen to music, I do it to get away from things. Yeah, I don't do it to to sit in it. Or I okay, that makes sense. No, no, no. That's totally this is that's the best way I could describe it.

SPEAKER_03

No, I think that's a great way to put it. Sometimes I do listen to music so I can sit in it. But a lot of the times it's just like I just want to have fun.

SPEAKER_02

But see, I like to have both options, so that's good. Yeah. But I also told her to send us some options. Oh, hell yeah. I would love to know what Kayla. I said, so send us in some requests. She was like, Well, I don't know what if you've already listened to it. And I was like, Well, I don't care. Send it in a few. We've only done like five. She was like, What? You've been recording forever. And I was like, Well, we only do it when we're doing our one-on-one. Yeah. And we have a lot of guests. Yes.

And this goes for you guys too. Like, we will start making a list. If you guys request a song, we will make a list. Please do.

SPEAKER_02

Honestly, I think I'm becoming more of a Swifty. Oh, Jen's excited. I knew this would happen. She did, damn it. I loved slam screen doors tapping on your window. Oh, that baby tailor. That fucking killed. Yeah. That's the only thing that would come through clear on my little stereo in my car, man. You know, she talked about that song, our song during her interview today. I think what?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, she talked about it during the interview.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's the one that like I loved it. I loved it. That's so cute. Yeah. That's so true to like what I like when I was sneaking out and shit.

unknown

Hell yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So really, you know, it's it's interesting because the lyric, when you talk real slow, the reason she didn't say talk real low, do you remember which lyric I'm talking about? Yes. Okay. She didn't say talk real low because she doesn't like it when two words that are next to each other end and start with the same letter. That's cute. And I'm like, oh my gosh, that makes so much sense. So it kind of breaks things up. So she's like, talks real slow instead of low. Instead of low. Yeah, instead of low.

SPEAKER_02

I thought that was funny. But and also slow and low are very close, so that works.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and you know, a lot of the times, like I feel like southern accents are known for talking a little bit slower anyway. That makes sense. So it did make sense, and it did work. Jesus, it's a genius.

SPEAKER_02

You know, the last man I dated.

SPEAKER_01

You dying right now. I'm dying.

SPEAKER_02

That was the thickest fucking accent I ever did see. Silly me.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god. Well, okay. So we've covered a lot of ground tonight. Man, we went far. And I I just I feel like the whole entire conversation tonight was just like wielded together. I love bringing back the trend. They're I think they went well. The the trends trend. Yeah, trend decoder. The trend decoder. Our trend decoder segment. So welcome that back. Although I did not do too well trend decoder. Actually, you did you did pretty well. I think the only one that went a little far left field was the dark one. Was the dark one, was the horror stories. But I totally set you up to go dark on that one. That is definitely me just letting you know. But eventually from that, I was like, oh wait, wait.

SPEAKER_02

This is trends on the internet. And eventually my brain went back to internet brain. And I was like, wait, what would they say is their horror? And I'd be like, oh, it's something like cringy or something. Okay, okay. So I didn't do too bad. How did I score?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so I feel like you got your first one, the Hallelujah. Uh-huh. You definitely got a point for that one. Yes. And I think the other two, you got half points. Okay, I got I got two points. Partial credits. Yeah. Two out of three. So you did one of the things. That's really good. Yes, cheers. That empty glass. Yay! Okay. Next week we are hosting Miss Chrissy Buck.
