Trend Decoder makes its Season 2 debut, and Rachel comes out swinging.

• “How My Brain Sounds” — creators soundtrack the chaos of juggling everything at once. Rachel's guesses (amusement park noise, a parenting mystery, Disturbed's “Down With the Sickness” playing over a work meltdown) landed close enough to earn serious points.
• “How to Summon Me” — Rachel nailed this one instantly: coffee, wine, and a favorite band are apparently all it takes.

The line “well-rounded and brain sounded” came out of this segment — and yes, it's officially T-shirt material. It's also this episode's name.

It is really nice. It's cool. We've had like this nice little night tonight. Rachel cooked for both of us and it was delicious. And she made us a little meat and cheese tray. Yes. Man, we have a lot to go over tonight. So yeah, we we're recapping some of our favorite season two moments tonight. Ready? Yeah. We're only three episodes in, and we're like, we're let's do some recapping. But I will be breaking the fourth wall on something you've heard as a sponsor mentioned for weeks. So the way that this goes is I, you know, I am a lot more chronically online than than Rachel is. And because of the nature of my job as a social media manager and strategist, I am always I'm always in the know of the trends that are happening across social media platforms, like mostly Instagram and of course TikTok. Okay. Rachel is not as in tune to these because she doesn't have to be. Must be nice. So what happens is I tell her the title of the trend and she has to try to guess it. And I let her ramble for a little bit about it, and then sometimes awfully long. Sometimes awfully long. It's just like if she's cooking, she's cooking, and we're just gonna let it happen.

She's hiding things. By the way, if you're a content creator, never get a privacy screen. It's very worse. Okay, so the first trend is called How My Brain Sounds. Yes. This is exactly why I picked this one. How your brain sounds.

How my brain sounds. Oh god. This could go so many directions. And I feel like that's I say that all the time. The first thing I thought of was just like when you go to an amusement park and in the background you hear is that how your brain sounds? Like people in the right sometimes. Yeah. And then like, I don't know. I feel like this would be like a funny parent video, maybe of them like just like hearing things their kids are doing in the next room and being like, what's going on in there? I think that would be a really funny one. That would be really funny. Or I don't know, maybe like a pot of coffee brewing in the morning. Or the sound of a keyboard and a bunch of like if you're like a desk worker at work, like this is how my brain sounds. It's just the clickety clackety ever keys. Yeah, but then I could also see it being some maybe something more funny, like somebody having a serious conversation with somebody. And then, but this is meanwhile, this is how my brain's sounding, and it's like, I don't know, like down to the sickness with the sickness or something in the background. You know, like you're just talking to somebody about all their frustrations with life or work, and you're just then in the background in your head, you're like, oh my god, yeah, I know that's crazy.

But then in your head, you're like, oh, it's gonna be or something. Yeah, am I close? Yeah, actually, yeah. I am pretty damn close. I love it. You're starting off, you're starting off strong. So, yes, the format, a creators caption a trending audio with how my brain sounds, trying to juggle, blah, blah, blah, and a relatable task list tied to their niche. So how my brain sounds like trying to figure out a meta business way for me.

You know, just kind of like hearing the dial-up noise in your brain while you're doing waking up on a Monday morning.

Oh my god. You were so I I you know, honestly, so that's exactly on. No, but I feel like okay, so the total points you get per one is two, right? And so I feel like you got like a 1.5. Okay. I feel like your last guess definitely put you there. The last guess was the down with the sickness while you were doing other tests. But I feel like it's very, very similar to that, right?

Well, what happens in the trend?

Trying to think. Um how to summon me. My brain goes to thinking about like being handed a cup of coffee in the morning. Or like if you start the coffee in the morning and I hear the coffee pot and then I hear it go beep, or even just hearing it and smelling it, I'm gonna be like, okay. But then especially triple points if someone hands me that cup, but I'm alone most of the morning, so I'm but I'm still summoning myself. Or the coffee pot summoning me, you know. Yeah, I think that's the best, or like picking when you can pick your uh like a song for your alarm to wake you up to. That's always nice. I use I was last month I was using these really annoying alarm clocks, and then I found myself getting irritated in the morning and just shutting them off immediately and snoozing them. Even when I was like already kind of awake, I still was just frustrated. So then I was like, You're telling me to do something I don't want to get up because you told me you want me to get up with that annoying noise. It's terrible. So I set it to a more relaxing tone. Nice. And now I'm like, all right, fine, that sounds nice. I'll get up. So I feel like the coffee pot one would probably be the main way to summon me awake. Well, like, if it's like to get me to go out and you're like, oh, you're our favorite band's play.

I haven't even seen any of these, I swear. Well, you're maybe I think maybe you're because of this segment of the podcast, you might be becoming more social media minded. Which is that would be a thing to study. Perhaps. I think that's kind of exciting. So, yeah, I give you a two. So you literally got a 3.5 out of four today. What not? Did you go?

I know, I know, but this is a good start. Okay. Um, the the cool thing is because they both relate to they both kind of relate to our themes today. So the how to summon us, I mean Vinzant wine, they were dead on wine. It's kind of our love language. So well done. Again, probably the best Cabernet Sauvignon I've ever had. I love this wine. This is fantastic. We'll talk more about it going in too. Um, and this is also not the only wine that they sent with us. They sent a rose too. I just forgot to chill it before the episode. So I guess we're gonna do two episodes drinking Vinzant wine. Oh, darn. Yeah, too bad. Yeah, so and then also the This is how my brain sounds, trying to juggle everything. We are busy ladies, we wear lots of hats. And I thought, like, the the way that your brain went in so many different directions. I'm like, that is incredibly relatable, and I feel like that a lot of the time, especially the down with the sickness. Oh yeah.

And the conversation that we had that day was so incredibly motivating. The bet the whole bet on yourself conversation is just so enlightening.

We all pitch in to check in on each other. Yes. Even when it's a newer relationship like that. It's true. We found our web. We didn't. We're stuck in it. You know what we're saying?

And yeah. Kind of validating and supporting each other. And I think that's what you really need to find at any sort of network of friends or chosen family, chosen lilies, chosen people that you surround yourself with in your work life, in your entrepreneurial, especially, you know, when you're taking yourself and putting yourself out on a limb. Yeah. You need to know that you've got the winds underneath you to keep that branch going.

That's right. And the network. The network is so huge. Collaboration, empowerment, all of those things, they really factor in. Yes, me and my metaphors. That's what I meant. Yeah. I love it. Yeah, I just, man, I'm gonna have to text her tomorrow and say, hey, good luck this week. We're thinking of you. Oh, yes, we definitely should. Been seeing already some posts about the global leadership summit on LinkedIn and Instagram today from Wichita Life. So love that those guys are collaborating as well. So cool to see that. I know. I feel like we could have kept going. We really could have kept going forever. Yeah, we could have kept going on all night, but she I I'm really happy that she felt comfortable enough to share us all that with us and take the time to spend that time with us. I love that when we all come together and share our networks with each other, like we just grow again away up. So season two is like starting with a bang with all this. It really is. I was like, oh no one's gonna show up. But like we did the couches.

I just I just feel so much for that because it's such an empowering moment that's so moving, and I can just picture how intense it was. It had to be. Yeah, what a day. Yeah, what a day. And what a leader. Because that's the way you have to be in those situations. I was like, I feel like I'm like that in those situations too. So I related very heavily to her too. Because like I, but maybe she doesn't even take a step back after that. I don't know. It sounded like it's after the fact, like, but even then, you she's probably still not ready to calm down from all that. Probably not you stay in that so long because you gotta stay with it on that adrenaline rush. You gotta stay locked in. Yeah, yeah.

Well, I feel like she and her team are doing such a great job. And now seeing Milani take to the bottle so well over the past week. I mean, she's just getting closer and closer to being able to get out with the herd and not by herself with the team anymore.

And her yeah, I know and that's the main goal, you know. Yeah, and then she's gonna be able to get their behaviors down, and yeah, that's really exciting. I love that we spoke about, I love that we gotta talk about there's just so many other animals there we didn't even get to talk about in an hour. Like, no, I could have kept talking to her for so long, and then like all the other aspects that just make her who she is. We just mostly covered we covered a lot, but we covered so much. I'm like, we didn't cover as it was a long episode.

I know I feel like we could talk to her even her professional journey, we could have talked about for forever. I know I wanted to keep asking about it, but I was like, oh, like all the kangaroo stuff and yeah, the anteater stuff that like just all oh my gosh, we went all over the place. This is the brainchild of Annika Wooten's husband, Jesse, and and Annika and our friend Brent McNulty. So hats off to all of them. And so because that was not going to be a thing this year, and nobody else had decided to pick up Rocky Horror pictures, they decided, oh, why don't we just kind of do our own thing? And they're doing it. And so now here we are. They just recently announced Ryan Schaeffer as their director. And they're currently doing auditions for the show right now. There will be two weekends of production. There will be Halloween weekend with a Halloween night midnight production of Rocky Horror Picture Show. And then there, and then I I believe it's also the weekend before Halloween weekend that they're gonna be doing productions as well. So be on the lookout. But to me, it's like, is that you talking to yourself? Or is that I feel like it's with her, it's always a real like relationship thing. So I'm like, but then so I'm thinking maybe she's like when I really listened to the whole thing, it started making me feel about sorry, my brain is sprawling because I don't know how to talk about it. Yeah. But I feel like it's you know how when guys like just make you go crazy, or like just like stop doing the things so that and start doing less and bad things that way you become the villain, that way you break up with them. Yeah. So they make they make you the villain, and then they talk about it to their friends or their family. And then when she mentioned the golf thing, I was like, was she in like a stuck up family? And he was like talking to all of his family and friends, and at their tea time, there was a quote about that, like you know, everyone agrees at tea time, but I didn't know if she meant like golf tea time or like sipping British tea time, but either way, I was like, sounds like whenever you're yeah, spilling the tea that everyone's agreeing about it. So, like, you're making me the villain, even though you're the one that messed up, and that's why I left you. But it also makes me think it could go with girlfriends situation too. Like, oh, when you're sitting around the table spilling all your tea, you're making me the villain because you don't know my story. It must be exhausting for you to come up with all these stories. So I don't know. I feel like it could go like either way with relationships with a lot of her songs, like it could be boyfriend, girlfriend situation, and him making her the villain or sound like a brat or biotch, yeah, or it could be the same thing with girlfriends or like with followers or something like that, since she's famous. Yeah, that was kind of my interpretation of it. Yeah, but then she was like when she says the whole mirror thing about what'd she say? I can't like it.

She feels like everyone's judging her. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't, but she's definitely inside inside her head about it. There's a lot of things that like in the there's a lot of talk about self-sabotage in it. Like, yeah, I stare directly at the sun but never in the mirror. Like, sure, I'll like look at this all day long because even though I know it's bad at me, but I won't look at myself in the mirror and take in the honest truth, you know, uh-huh, that kind of thing. But honestly, with Taylor songs, the beauty of them is I feel like the cool thing about them is if you're going through something and the song speaks to you, then that's what it means to you. That's posing that's art. Exactly. It doesn't necessarily need to be what Taylor meant.

And I feel like it it super makes sense when we both talk about it. Yeah. I'm telling you all these different ways I'm thinking about it, and I'm probably thinking about it those ways because that's how I could relate it with my life. It's like if you and that's the main thing I think I was saying too. If you walk into like a situation where you're uncomfortable with people, oh yeah, how they feel about you. Like it's yeah, I did feel that sense of anxiety in her words. Like, there's this anxiety that comes with like, hi, it's me. I'm the villain, it's me. Like, even if you're not a villain, or even if you don't think that they hate you, like I still feel like that sometimes is a situation. Sometimes I feel like I feel awkward. I'm doing the best I can, so here I am. Yeah, this is me. I don't know how to talk to people. I sweat too much. I sweat too much. I talk too much, I sweat too much, I sometimes drink too much, sometimes I pee too much, not like in front of everybody.

If my mom comes to visit, the amount of intrusive thoughts that I have in inner dialogue that I have with myself that never actually come out in the conversations with my mother or with you know with co-workers, or even you know, sometimes like I'll have these conversations that I want to go over with the boys and I forget to ever do them, but just so convinced that like at tea time everyone agrees I'm the problem. I think we're still waiting to see just how much just enough is what is.

That's cute, which I love so much because I love friends and I love Taylor's.

So did you know there actually is this theory about Phoebe and Friends where the whole thing of friends was written from this perspective of Phoebe's imagination? Because if you've ever heard this, if you think about it, she's the outcast. There's no reason or way she would have met all these people. They're a lot of them. So incredibly true. She's this one that grew up with her parents committing suicide or whatever, and her never knowing her real dad. And stuff, and living in New York and the evil songs and singing songs outside this coffee shop, and then she has an evil twin, and then so her going inside and like making up all these friends that always are in the same space, always in the same place, always in the coffee shop. And they they go through all the details of it to say like what this theory of this is. I think that's honestly pretty freaking cool. I love that so much. I don't, I mean, it just now I'm gonna rewatch all of Friends and think about it in that perspective. Yes, I do. That's what I want to do, and so it's kind of neat that does Lisa Couture know about this? I don't know, I don't know, but I saw it. I think that is fascinating. And I was like, you know, that doesn't completely not track. But it's honestly tracked. But it's honestly very creative for someone that wrote a sitcom sort of situation. Yeah, because that's such dark, dark comedy. I love it. That's what that time frame was good for was dark comedy and making it light. Yay! But that if that was the intention, then they fucking nailed making it light. It's so true. But an interesting perspective and way to think about Phoebe Buffet.
