So THIS Happened...
“So THIS Happened…” is the podcast version of catching up with your most unfiltered friend over wine. Each week, Jen and Rachel dive into personal mishaps, past memories, local happenings, weird habits, and whatever else pops up — including the occasional celebrity headline we just have to talk about. It’s casual, it’s chaotic, and it’s all real.
So THIS Happened...
Episode 55 : Don't Give a Chic
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
It's the dead center of August in Wichita, and So THIS Happened hosts Jen Cole and Rachel Chappelle are living squarely in "the in-between" — still sweating through summer, already reaching for pumpkin spice. Grab the last pour of a good rosé and settle in, because this one's got Trend Decoder history, a big event announcement, and a Taylor Swift deep-dive that gets surprisingly tender.
TREND DECODER: A PERSONAL BEST
Rachel went in blind, as always, and walked away with a perfect score — 4 out of 4, her best Trend Decoder performance yet (up from 3.5 out of 4 last time).
- "Things More Damaging Than..." — Rachel nailed the format on the first guess, riffing on things more damaging than a glass of wine before landing squarely on the real trend
- "Extra Services I Offer That No One Ever Books..." — another direct hit, complete with a pitch for a So THIS Happened version (therapist, hydrator, on-call Band-Aid dispenser)
- Bonus round: "Kinda Chic" — didn't count toward the score, but gave us the line of the night and, fittingly, this episode's title
ONE LAST POUR: VINZANT WINES' EVIE & ROSE
The girls poured the final bottle of the rosé VinZant Wines sent home with Jen from Kansas City — Evie & Rose, a classically fermented rosé with wild strawberry and citrus notes. Verdict: smooth, well-balanced, and worth seeking out. You can find VinZant pours locally at Bubbles Champagne Bar.
THE IN-BETWEEN
This week's episode theme, and it showed up everywhere: still summer by the calendar, already fall in spirit. The proof was in the details — a Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini at this week's Coffee Break session at GROW, back-to-school for Nathan (Jen's youngest, starting his senior year) the same week Jen's oldest, Nick, heads off to Kansas State. Two very different kinds of goodbye, landing in the same seven days.
Also very "in-between": Jen's marketing company, Backspace Media, is relaunching — new site landing at backspacewichita.com this week, with personal branding, podcast coaching, and event content creation services now open for booking.
SOMETHING'S BREWING: A RICHARD O'BRIEN'S ROCKY HORROR SHOW NIGHT
So THIS Happened is teaming up with Vu Events, Douglas Production Group, and the Rocky Horror Show team for a ticketed, dress-up event at Doc's Hangar at the end of October. Expect a live podcast recording, special guests, and full themed energy — ticket price and date are still being finalized, so watch the socials for the Facebook event drop.
HITS DIFFERENT: "CRUEL SUMMER" — TAYLOR SWIFT
This week's pick, from Taylor Swift's Lover album, chosen for obvious August-shaped reasons.
- Rachel's read: a song about fleeting summer relationships and the nostalgia that lingers — loving something fully while already knowing it won't last
- Jen connected it to her own "church camp boyfriend" summers, and the bittersweet summer she started dating her daughter Macy's dad right before leaving for college
- The two agreed the song isn't just about romance — seasonal friendships and "ladies room best friend" moments carry the same fleeting, worth-it feeling
- Bonus tangent: Jen's infamous Eastborough speeding ticket (22 in a 20, on the way to buy fox ears for a Halloween costume) — filed permanently under fall nostalgia
BEFORE YOU GO
- Merch is live — Pairs Well with Champagne and Caviar Bumps, plus scrunchies from Bella Bonita Designs and patches from Happy Camper Hat Company
- Next Sip Squad Session: Sunday, August 23rd, 6:30 PM at Tor Brewing, featuring Sophii Jones of Jupiter House Marketing & PR
- Come hungry — Tor's Cajun fries and chicken sandwich came up more than once
- Backspace Media is officially relaunching — follow along at backspacewichita.com
Thank you to our Season 2 partners: Vu Events, Colour Thairapy, and Backspace Media — Jen's own marketing company. (Yes, Backspace Media is Jen's business — consider this our disclosure!)

Okay, here we are. Cheers. Cheers. Cheers. Episode 55. 5'5. Dang. So this happened. This happened. I'm Rachel. I'm Jin. I'm Rachel. And it's nice to be with you all today. We're sipping on some more Vinzant wines. This is their rose that they sent home. Yes. So excited.
SPEAKER_00That's a pretty bottle. It's very elegant.
SPEAKER_01Very elegant. So yeah, uh, we'll talk a little bit more about that here in just a minute. So, as you know, we have merch. Yes. So go snap it up. Yeah. Go get all that amazing merch because we love to see it when you guys are hanging out with us at our Sip Squad sessions or at events like that. Oh, how fun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I can't wait until I start just seeing Sip Squaders all around.
SPEAKER_01I know. They're the best. We love our Sip Squad. Make sure you're following us and subscribing to us on Spotify, YouTube, wherever you get your podcasts. And tonight we have a jam-packed episode. So we're smack in the middle of August. As you all know, it is freaking hot outside. Oh my gosh, I know.
SPEAKER_00It's taking it out of everybody.
SPEAKER_01So we're we are technically still in summer, but let's be honest, our brains are kind of already in fall. So that's why we're calling tonight's episode The In Between. That's exactly where we're living right now. We've poured the last bottle of the Vin Zant wines, this lovely Rose. So thank you again to the Vin Zant team. You guys are amazing. Thank you, thank you. We already had a pumpkin spice espresso martini during our coffee break session that we did this week at uh Grow, which kind of felt like a crime against summer, but hey, what are you gonna- And we have something really exciting brewing with Vue Events, Douglas Production Group, the lovely team at Rocky Horror, and some other fun sponsors that are kind of gonna be in the mix. So stay tuned. This is gonna be a fun dress-up ticketed event. And you guys are not gonna want to miss it, so stay tuned. We'll be uh putting all this stuff out there before you know it. Yes. So ying. We also will be talking about Taylor Swift's Cruel Summer from the Lover album on our hits different segments. So yeah, but first before we get too far into anything, is trend decoder. Oh boy. This is the this is you know, this is a listener favorite. So we took it away for a while in season one, and then we had a request from our friend Tracy to think we just bring it back. So yeah, so we are going strong on the trend decoder. Yeah, I like crushed it last time. You did, you did so good.
SPEAKER_00I was impressed, I was almost like, okay, is this as fun when I do well?
SPEAKER_01Well, hopefully I can, I don't know. We'll see. I might stump you tonight.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's true. The heat may have fried out every inch of internet I have in my brain.
SPEAKER_01What is it with this over 100 degree temperatures this week? It's insane. Okay, so here's what happens on trend decoder. I will throw out the name of the trend. Rachel going in blind because she's not as chronically online as some of some of us are, me included. She will try to guess what the trend is just based on the title of the trend that I give her. So you you can see how this could go a whole lot of ways. Yeah, some of them have some fickle names. Yeah, sometimes they do, and I'm really excited about tonight. The first one is things more damaging than.
SPEAKER_00Things more damaging than. Yes. What? Oh man. Okay. Oh man, I don't know. This is tough. Let's see. It's been a long week already. It's Wednesday, guys. It's hump day. Hopefully it's all easy to just I'll just roll downhill the rest of the week, right? Because I'm too exhausted to walk down it. Um, okay, there you go. Easier way things easier than walking. You'd be rolling down the hill. Just lie down and let gravity take you. What could happen? I don't know. Um, let's see, it's things more damaging than okay. Sorry, I switched it. I put more easier than on that example. Oh no. More damaging. So things more damaging than a glass of wine might be like Drowning is more damaging than wine.
SPEAKER_01Um see here.
SPEAKER_00Smoking cigarettes is more damaging than wine. So I'm trying to think what they could do with that. Or oh man, I'm not doing good. Can I get a hint? The hint is you're kind of on the right track. Okay. I oh man, I feel like it's like I can't think of anything witty, but I sound bad today, guys.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, you're doing way better than you think you are. I will tell you that.
SPEAKER_00I'm trying to think of something like grade related or job related or something. Like, I mean, you could go silly with it, I suppose. Like, I don't know. It could be something funny, like, gosh, you know, it's like I blew my presentation, I got all the numbers wrong. But it's like, well, you know, something more damaging than that. You could have fired it in the middle of a meeting or something. I don't know. More damaging to your ego. I'm not sure. Take a lane. Seriously, pick a lane about that. Yeah, I don't know. I'm lost. Am I close? You're close, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Jimmy, just go ahead and you're basically right there. So the way this trend goes is so the I love your things more damaging than wine. So the way the video would start would it would start with probably us sipping or tears our wine, and then the text overlay would be things more damaging than wine. And then it would just go into drinking too many shots in a night. Like you were definitely on it. Like I feel like you basically you got it too on that. Okay. And by the way, two is a perfect score. Oh, yeah. I really feel like you got it. You even like went in with a you went in with the great examples and everything. Like, I mean, some of the things that people online are saying like are unhinged. Like really just crazy things, like you know, overturning your boat in the you know, on the lake, or you know, just things more damaging. The example that I saw was things more damaging than gel polish, you know, for your finger for your fingernails. And but then they like went to the biggest thing.
SPEAKER_00Goes into like blue collar workers, like sawing off their fingers, nailing my hand to the table. Oh gosh, or like that knife game where they used to put the knife in between each finger, really, and go faster and faster. Yeah. Okay. It's pretty dramatic. I was close, yeah. Yeah, yeah, you definitely went the right direction. If it was like, oh yeah, let's stay in and drink two bottles of wine. Things that are worse than that, going out, spending a bunch of money and out in public and drinking too many whatever and spending too much money. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01That's damaging.
SPEAKER_00Then having to avoid weirdos. Like it's much nicer. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It is. Yeah, true to that. Cheers. Boom. I love this next one. Okay, more. The next one is extra services I offer that no one ever books.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01Um, services. This could go some ways. Okay. Well, tell us what you're thinking, Rachel.
SPEAKER_00Well, first of all, like give me my extra services I book that or that I have to offer that no one books. Yeah, that I offer that no one ever books. Oh, I could. I don't care mine. I'd be like, they didn't know that every time they're hanging out with me, they're going to a comedian show or comedy show. Like, some people, if they're like, they get to see me go to the bathroom, or there have been many times she's seen topless. Yes. Um, or like a talent show, you know, I'll randomly start doing cartwheels. Yeah. Or you never book that. It just happens. Just happens. Or like a whip together a charcuterie board experience for you. Some little catering. I mean, we kind of are like, okay, meats and cheeses, and then sometimes I'm like, boom, nuts and crackers. Yeah. So that's kind of what I'm thinking. Or it's like the little funny things you don't expect to like the hidden sides of a person. Yeah. That like you don't expect them to have, or something. Maybe like the little perks of different friends or relationships or something, or like, but also I can see it being really funny, like extra perks I offer the known books or whatever, or things, and then it's like shows like a girlfriend like belching on the couch with ice cream or something, like watching a movie, or like, yeah, that's kind of what I'm thinking. Am I on the right track of it?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, you nailed it. Dang! It's definitely that's right. So, like the example that I had seen was it was a uh it was a hair stylist, and you know, things that services that I offer that no one ever books, therapist, you know, storyteller, you know, things like that.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that makes sense too. Yeah, we could we could make one of those for our best friendship. Oh, we definitely could. Definitely therapists would be on there, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Therapist, um, a hydrator. Yeah, yeah, definitely making sure we get our juice intake, vitamins are important.
SPEAKER_00Yes, vitamins are important, and then yeah, or oh, I'm usually the person that has like something someone needs. You need I've been got it. You need a band-aid, I've got it.
SPEAKER_01You need flat, I've got it. You need you need oils, she's not. Oh, you ripped your clothes, I have a sewing kit every time. Every time. For me, you just get a whole lot of wit and sarcasm.
SPEAKER_00Hey, you do all you always have lotion when I need it. I do always have lotion. And I always have time. So I will say I know that like if I don't have those two things in my purse, that Jen has me on those two. Yeah, it's funny, those are the two things that like I don't always have, and you do have I also always have floss. Oh, hell yeah, hell yeah. I usually do, but sometimes it's in my backpack instead of my purse.
SPEAKER_01So see, I do the thing where you just put one in all of the things. Yes, yes, I learned that about myself that I kind of have to do that. Yeah, yeah. Okay, well that's a good one. Man, I'm gonna go. You did good, you got a you got a perfect score today. Sweet, amazing. You even that's a personal best for you. I did pretty good last time, too, wasn't it? Yeah, you got a 1.5, or you got 3.5 out of 4. And today you got a perfect four.
SPEAKER_00Oh man, what? Yeah. I am crushing you guys. You're crushing it. I swear I have not seen these online. Or if I have, I don't know what they are, and it's just subconsciously in my brain.
SPEAKER_01But especially Well, I think you're starting to get the hang of I might have to find something tricky.
SPEAKER_00You might have to find something super tricky, or we might have to start playing like um Pictionary or like act it out or something.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Have you seen the kinda chic trend yet? Kind of chic? Kind of chic? No, this will be a third one, okay. Okay, kind of chic.
SPEAKER_00I feel like it's like what I'm wearing right now. Look at my slippers. They're dragons.
SPEAKER_01That is chic. I don't know. In its own little way. It's very precious. Nothing I'm wearing right now matches. But I am wearing jewelry. The jewelry matches beautifully.
SPEAKER_00Yes, my lovely coworker Mal gave me these. Oh, so they were hers too. And she just we always complimented and commented on how we I had the necklace and she had the earring. She was like, oh my gosh. And then and then we had a conference this week, and she like surprised me. She was like, Close your eyes and your open your hand, and she put them in there. I opened them and I was like, oh my god. And she was like, you just have to have them. I thought that was so sweet. Yeah, she's very sweet. I love her. She's got a beautiful spirit. Sorry, so kind of chic. Back to that. Kind of chic. So if it's not, if it was like wardrobe related, I feel like it would be just like, I feel like it's gotta be a joke. Like something that's like not actually cool, or it's like a 2000s look where you have like three shirts on.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, remember the under polo, yeah. Oh, oh, under the polos. Under the polos.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, or under polos, under polos. With like the plaid pants from like Air Apostles. That's so right. And every color flip-flops from old navy. Yes. But um, but I don't think that would be considered chic, but it could be like a joke. I don't know. I feel like or it could be like an after party mess. So after like Rose Fest, like just the scan of the room after the aftermath with all the pink and boas and glitter and whatever everywhere, and bottles and glasses. Just kinda chic.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so this one doesn't count because I threw it because so you failed horribly to at that one, but that's okay because it didn't count. And you still throw me off. Kind of the kind of chic trend. I'm really shocked you haven't seen it because literally everyone is doing it right now. Like it's I feel like it's everyone is it's super easy to do. So it's literally like kind of chic to have an awesome podcast with your best friend, kind of chic to be supporting local every weekend. So it's just like a picture of what you're doing and then saying yeah, but they're like carousels a lot of the time. Oh, okay. Or last night I posted a reel about the different vinyl stores in Wichita, and I said on mine, kind of chic to support your local vinyl stores.
SPEAKER_00Okay, see that one fit. That's a good one. I like that one because it's like on trend, but it also makes sense.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I like that. Yeah, it was a fun, yeah, it was a fun one, but like hey, everyone is doing it.
SPEAKER_00It's so wild. It's like those simple ones that are just a picture with a tied thing on them, is like what gets me. Yeah. It's the complicated ones that I think I can kind of get.
SPEAKER_01Are we reading too much into this or is it really what it is? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Those are the ones that throw me off that they are, they are just like what it is.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it would be kind of fun to like just do one completely wrong, or just like always be the ones that are doing them completely wrong. And then people are like, God, those guys just never ever.
SPEAKER_00But it would still go viral because it's trending.
SPEAKER_01Kind of chic to be different.
SPEAKER_00A chic to not give a chic.
SPEAKER_01Don't give a chic. Don't give a chic. Don't give a chic. I love that one. Kiss my chic. Kiss my chic. We're on a roll today. It's the rose, girl.
SPEAKER_00Today we are doing my brain is waking up thanks to your lovely rose. Yay! Which is very smooth, by the way.
SPEAKER_01It is very smooth. It is very smooth. Like, we are. I feel like okay, I'm gonna move Vinzant up because we're already talking about it. Yellowing up. So I feel like you and I are a little bit rose snobs. And I told Daniel this when I was on site at Maiden Local at the Vin Zan thing. I said called us. I said we're kind of rose snobs.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_01I feel like you and I, and we it's always the same ones. We have the exact same rose taste, but when we don't like rose, we really don't like the rose.
SPEAKER_00That's true, because I guess when we do get roses, we don't really go outside of what our top like six are.
SPEAKER_01That's true. If it was like always summer water or or the one that started it all, so this happened. Rose. That one started everything. That is gonna be a comeback. Yes, it is.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Um summer water, so this happened, Rose. Oh, what is the one that we get at the monarch?
SPEAKER_00We do the Florida Croak kit or whatever. Oh, we do get that one too. I love that one that's a lot of fun. That's really pretty bond.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Love you bunches at the monarch. Love you bunches, that's what it is. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we have our go-tos for sure. Because we are such rose snobs. But I feel like we're kind of snob. I I don't know. I know I'm a big Chardonnay snob too. If it tastes a certain way, I'm not having it. Well, I'll have it, but I'll not the next class. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't use the word, I'm like, we're not snobs. We're just we just know what we like. Yeah, we just know what's good. And I'll be all. Does that make me sound like a diva or a diva? No, I think it makes us sound like snobs.
unknownI can't remember.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, no, we're dicks.
SPEAKER_01I mean Nino Tomato. No, okay.
SPEAKER_00Rose Rose. I would say we're snobs. We're snobs, isn't it? Two different. I don't know. Okay, I swear we've only had like two sips of this wine.
SPEAKER_01No, yeah, we're just breaking this in.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're delirious from the heat, okay? I think so. Hey, it's working because like who whoever does drugs is stupid. Just exhaust yourself and then have a conversation with your best friend. It's kind of chic to do that. Kind of chic to exhaust yourself and then have a conversation with your best friend on a podcast.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. You know what? I love the color too. Like, it's very, I feel like the color on this one's a little deceiving because I I'm pretty sure I had this conversation with Daniel of Vinzant also. It's like when I see the darker rose, I I kind of automatically expect it to be sweet for some reason. Yes, because it looks more like a sangria. Yeah, but no, like this is no just normal within our floral little bit of citrus to it.
SPEAKER_00It's but you're right, it does, it has more of like a I don't want to like a red plum color. Yeah, not like a purple plum, but like a red plum color to it. Yeah, I know my mindset kind of changes it a little bit, but yeah, it definitely does have a different color. I noticed that too when you poured it, and even the bottle is a little darker too, which kind of accentuates it. But I love how they did the gold on there, it's a really pretty design. I know our light makes it a little bit glary, but yeah, um, it is just a bunch of vineyards and like a dark green, and then it is very nice with the gold on it, and it's got little florals on the back as well. But I think it's the rose. There's gotta be rose petals in it or something. Maybe that's what makes it red. Sorry, I took it out of your hand. No, that's okay. Can I read it? Absolutely. Yeah. So I might be butchering this. Evie and Rose. This cooked that out. Like its namesake, Evie and Rose wine is made for those with a free spirit who see life through rose-colored glasses. I have rose-colored glasses. Block one of George Vineyard is tucked below a mountainside and an elevated rocky knoll, creating an ideal setting to grow Syrah for rose. Evie and Eve, I think it's gotta be Evie. Eve. Eevee and rose is classically fermented rose wine that is rich with floral notes and bright fruit, including wild strawberry and citrus, that refle refreshingly lingers on the palate. Okay, but they have a picture of the rose on a rose on the back. So that must be what you mean with the floral notes that it has. Oh, absolutely. And it does, I will say they're not too floral. Like there's some that you get that are just perfumey.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00And you know, but this is not that. This is no, this is very well balanced. This is it's delicate like a rose petal. Yeah, oh I love that. So I think that's maybe where like it seems light and floaty. Yeah. It is really smooth. For how dark it is, you're right. You would think that it'd have a bite or something, but it's very smooth. Yeah, I like that. Definitely the strawberry would have got in there. Yeah, love it. Maybe that's why it's darker. Is this strawberry? Oh, yeah. There's a and I bet those dark green leaves might be in there too.
SPEAKER_01That's what's floral about it as well. Yeah. It'd be interesting to have a con. Like I know that whenever I they come to the Vinzant family comes to Wichita often. Um, you know, you can get some of this at Bubbles, actually. Some of this very rose. You can get it at Bubbles. Well, you know. Yeah, now you know. Yes. But when they I would love to sit down with them when they come to Wichita. I think that would be really cool. We learn a little bit more about the rose. I think so too. It'll be cool.
SPEAKER_00It's cool because we have a little sneak peek on the wines now by drinking them ourselves and then finding out about it, even in depth, about like their process and stuff. Oh my gosh, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01That would be really cool. I would love to do that. So, yes, we are in a season of in-between right now. It is hot as if outside. But you know, school starts for USD 259 tomorrow, which means fall is it starts all over ahead of us. Yeah, it's coming whether we like it or not. Oh my gosh, Nathan, my oldest, starts his senior year tomorrow. Wait, Nate, then your youngest. Nathan, my youngest. It's the heat, guys. Nathan, my youngest, starts because he's so old now. He's my baby. My oldest high schooler. My oldest high schooler starts his senior year tomorrow. And but then, yeah, my oldest son goes off to Kansas State next week. So wow. Oh my god. A lot. Talk about feeling in between. So gosh, yeah, we already did the where where are you feeling? Like, what what is in-between-ish for you right now, other than just the freaking weather? Like, is there a an a facet of your life right now where you feel like you're just kind of like waiting for something?
SPEAKER_00I'm waiting for a lot of things. For one, like, and I know I'm gonna focus mostly on the heat when I'm talking about this because it is just brutal, guys. Like so brutal. I mean, for one, all the stores already have Halloween's death. And you know what? It's so true. Usually I'm like, what are we doing here? Like, why are we jumping ahead to holidays? But I'm Honestly, since there hasn't been a holiday to really have stuff for till since like the 4th of July. And honestly to me, like 4th is great, it's fun. I had fun with friends on the 4th, like woohoo, fireworks, go America. Love that. But my favorite is the fall season. Oh my god, you too. So it's exciting for me to see that stuff in the stores early, but it's like bittersweet because I see it in the stores and I'm like, please be fall. Like because I'm still dripping sweat while I'm looking at a skeleton statue. Like it's just not right.
SPEAKER_01But I know, and then he's just sitting there cool as bones because he's a skeleton.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh, I know. I'm like, I'm jealous. Like that's about that's about what I'm gonna look like if I stay outside for two hours. Like bone dry dehydrate like that. Yeah. I'm like, oh, is that a customer that I'm looking at? Like these skeletons from the store. No. So the store's already having stuff which gets me excited for fall and Halloween and all of that. Because it's like the entrance to just that good cozy season where I light more candles. Yeah, I get more like cozy and crafty feeling. Oh yeah. It also has my brain, like, I mean, I'm always thinking like a month, two months ahead for like work purposes. Yeah. So that's like a whole nother thought process, and also has me a little bit anxious in a good way, but also a bad way because it's like cooler in the field to work and send employees out in the field, but it's also like oh man, because the holidays are coming. So I'm like, it's crunch time. We gotta get everything done before it gets too holiday busy, you know. Oh, that's true. Um, but then I know the first half of the year already went so fast, so we are in the middle because it's like this is the middle to where it still goes fast, but then the last half of the year goes even faster, it's even busier. Yeah, so it's like whoop, and then a plateau, and then whoop! Does that make sense? No, it makes perfect sense. I know month nine and a half, ten on is like, oh, it's already 2027. Like that's crazy.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, here in just a few months it's 2027. And then you know, here in a couple weeks we'll be in the Burr months. So oh my god, it's good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so that's super cool, and I'm excited for that. So I'm sorry I'm rambling. But then it has me. Honestly, I'm already looking forward to our trip that we're taking next year.
SPEAKER_01Like oh my god, we have so we already have our podcast retreat scheduled at the Elms in March.
SPEAKER_00We're so excited, and honestly, it's gonna be right around the corner, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so we'll just have to make a stop in and visit Vince Antwines on our way through. Yeah, it'd be fun.
SPEAKER_00And I am, of course, excited for our upcoming podcast events. I know it's gonna be crazy, but I think it's just flying by.
SPEAKER_01It is flying by, I know. And then like we want to sit here and sit in it, but also like in my brain, I feel like we're already halfway through September when we're actually only it's like you just said, we're already we're only halfway through August. You're right. So when we're saying there's only a few months left, yeah. There really are, but mentally, like we're planning our podcast, for instance, is scheduled into October now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we passed it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, our event that we're working with Rocky Horror on, obviously, since it's part of the Rocky Horror situation, that's at the end of October. If you have a lot of people, it's basically November then. Yeah, which is crazy, and then holidays. Yeah. So yeah, we've passed the calm before the storm. We're not sitting in that anymore. We're just in the we're kind of in the the incline.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're watching the clouds roll in. We sure are. I certainly wish we actually were in the sky. And I know I keep going back to that, but golly, you know, all the plants are suffering. I also, my other thing, I'm just so looking forward to fall because my poor plants have been struggling.
SPEAKER_01I know, and you can see it outside and the leaves are even wanting to turn.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, all the plants. It's October.
SPEAKER_01They're like, give me August.
SPEAKER_00It's October A Eugene Tober. And I know we had our pumpkin spice latte, which is like crazy in the seat to think about. But it was cold and it was delicious. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so it's coffee. But it wasn't grow, which is cozy and amazing. Unless you're out in the tiki area where but they're about to like flip to fall.
SPEAKER_00Yes, but it was good. Also, pumpkins should be enjoyed all year round. It's actually odd that I think that pumpkins have been like it's marginalized. The right word, or like they've been used for capitalizing on a holiday. Pumpkins really incredibly they realistically are available all year round. But for whatever reason, our society has taken that and changed it to mainly a Halloween Thanksgiving thing. Yeah. But like, when do they grow? They grow all the time.
SPEAKER_01You can grow squash like all the freaking time. Yeah. I love zucchini. So this is zucchini as summer plant, but it's also in the pumpkin family.
SPEAKER_00And also in the fall, and so like throughout the whole thing, like it can grow at any time. I mean, just like kind of like lettuce. So I think that we should be utilizing pumpkins more for a while. I really're so good for your health. Every part of it is good for your health.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I I agree. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, all parts of the pumpkin are good for health, whether you're carving them for your mental health, or you're eating the seeds also for your your like making the seeds for your mental health and romanticizing the seeds and I always eat the seeds. Yeah, it's a great thing to do. I can't wait. Oh my gosh. For me, I feel like the in-between. Yes, you tell it. Um I hogged the tits. You didn't. You just said your part. There's a lot of crossover here too, though. Like, because I mean, with the podcast and everything. Also, at the same time, I'm relaunching my company, yes, Backspace Media. Oh, girl. And when is it launching, Jen? Well, I'm gonna launch the website on Friday. So that's uh, so this this episode goes so today is Wednesday. This episode will go live tomorrow on Thursday, and then my my new website will launch on Friday. So I'm very excited about that. What a fucking week, I tell you what. So yeah, bags backspacewichita.com will be the website, and it's gonna be beautiful. I'm so excited for everyone to see it. I'm excited. Oh, I'm so excited for it to be just like officially launched, and then I have to start going in to the social media part of it. We're gonna just oh my gosh. I know, but oh my gosh, it's such a freaking beast. Social media is so much. I'm thinking, like, I already have it on LinkedIn, I don't have it on Instagram, I don't have it on Facebook yet, and I don't know. Like, I just I feel like I'm gonna be incredibly gun shy about the social media part of it. For I don't know why. This is what I do for a living.
SPEAKER_00Oh, is it because you don't have any more room for accounts on your phone, Chen?
SPEAKER_01That is definitely why. I'm gonna have to open the Instagram account on my husband's phone and then uh schedule content through Meta Business Suite, which I fucking hate.
SPEAKER_00That's what you're that's why that's why. It's a beast. That is crazy. That you can't get like, you know, computers, you can get like an external hard drive. You need that for your phone.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, or just another phone that just has the internet, which I did have at my other job.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, I wonder if you could get like a deal or something. I don't know. I probably do. Does someone want to sponsor backspace for a phone so that she can do her job?
SPEAKER_01My work phone. Okay, great. Thanks. Awesome.
SPEAKER_00Uh plug. I would if I could, but I can't.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we get it. So that's no, but it's very exciting looking for personal branding clients, podcast coaching clients, event marketing clients, content, event content creation clients. I mean, yeah, those kinds of things. So excited about that. I I don't know. I when that brand died in 2017 or 18, it crushed my soul. And so now to be reviving it, I'm just so excited. I think it's a perfect time to do it. I really think it is too. Yeah, I know it is. I'm I'm so excited about it, and I think that's kind of the telltale sign that you're gonna have. And I already have two clients that I'm very excited about. I haven't even launched yet, and I already have two clients. I think that's a really good sign. I'd say, shoot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like I'm also like, oh my girl, you already have the social media, but it you need to have your it obviously so that you can filter it through the proper funnel and source. Yeah, and have it separated, but I'm like, oh gosh, like you got those two without even having it on your phone. Imagine what's gonna happen after. I know, no, you are gonna need another phone.
SPEAKER_01Can you help us? And I'm like, You're like, I definitely for the universe. I love it. Yeah, so keep them rolling in, guys. Please do. That would be amazing. You'll have the website to look at here pretty soon. So it's so exciting.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, only good things to come. I can already that's the thing about the in-between two, is like if you're a planet header, or even if you're not, like, this is where it's cool, like everything, like it's almost like a new year. It's like a half birthday.
SPEAKER_01Yes, oh half birthday.
SPEAKER_00Like of all the happenings. It's like, oh I already feel like we're two and a half years old with this podcast. Like, I know that we just started a couple months ago because our our year is like in what June? Yeah, yeah. So like it's a little different, but it still is just like where are we gonna be next year? Like, it's crazy to see our goals like already being achieved, already being worked towards, and it's like, well, shoot, we gotta already be scheduled, we're already scheduling these into 2027.
SPEAKER_01That is crazy. It is bananas, and it's funny because girls that I met with, I met with a friend this weekend. Her name is Erica, real estate by Erica. If you follow her on social, she is fantastic. We had a great little coffee meeting, and the cool I what I love about our community is everyone wants to help everyone succeed, and she's like, Oh, you guys have sponsors, you want sponsors, you're looking for sponsors. Will you send me your sponsor tiers and like your media kit? I'm like, We love you. Oh my god, of course I will. Thank you. Because she's got clients that might be interested too. So, like, I just that kind of collaboration and openness to just work together on things in our community. That's why we love Wichita so much. Yeah, and that's why we love this community that we're building so much as well. So I know like I feel like we're we're definitely growing something, we're on the press precipice of something right now, too. But then also we have a lot of new partners that we're working with this this season, too. Like so, we're officially working with Bubbles, yes, we're officially working with Tour Brewing, yes, we're officially working with Grow. Yes, these are lovely people that are hop letting us host our social our SIP squad sessions at their establishments and bring in our SIP squad and record lovely episodes of our podcast. Yes, I'm so excited for our next one.
SPEAKER_00Our first one went really well.
SPEAKER_02I know, I know.
SPEAKER_00It was so great that it was there and it that it was with Stella and like that's really exciting. So again, guys, don't forget to come out. We're gonna we it's always welcome. Like, you know, I think the like we mentioned before, the wildflowers we had come out. Yes, the wildflowers came out. Um which I love that name. You know, I am an herb galley, a wildflower galley. Love it, love it. So love that name. But anyways, yeah, they came out and they were like, Oh, we just didn't know. And I was like, Yes. Oh my gosh, come every time, please. Yeah, tell people like spread the word that's so fun. Like, and it hypes us up too, because it makes us know that we, you know, we don't have guilt, I don't get like imposter syndrome. I know, I know. We're so guilty of that. It makes me feel so good too, like talking to the owners and them being excited and being happy that we're there. Because I'm almost like, oh, we don't want to be a burden, you know. But really, it's like, stop it, Rachel. Stop it, Jimmy.
SPEAKER_01Bubbles made us a menu.
SPEAKER_00Like, what is that?
SPEAKER_01That is so freaking amazing. I think that they have fun with it too. I think they do too. I think that's good. I know Austin was definitely having fun with us. The whole team at Bubbles has been fantastic. And the last couple times we've been at Grow now, too. Like, I feel like the team's starting to get to know us a little bit better, which is really cool. Absolutely. At tour, they've known us for years. We love Aaron and his team at tour, so we just already feel at home there. But one and speaking of this month's SIP Squad session will be August 23rd. It's gonna be on a Sunday night. August 23rd at 6:30, and we'll start meeting and gathering at 6. We'll be hosting Sophie Jones, who you will love. She has Jupiter House Marketing and PR. I've already done a lot of work with her on my own collaboration. She's hooked me up with let's see, friendship lamps as well as Iwear Junkies. So any of the collab stuff that you see on my social, that's because of the amazing Sophie Jones. Yeah, she's so wonderful. And I'm so excited to dive into things with her. So that'll be August 23rd at tour, 6:30.
SPEAKER_00Um, it's a Sunday. It's a Sunday at 6 30. Come and check us out. We'll be up in the lofty area. We sure will. So come on.
SPEAKER_01It's a party in the clubhouse.
SPEAKER_00So come say hi. Because we'll be up high too.
SPEAKER_01Yes, in the loft, hanging out, sipping some things. And just so you know, they have delicious smash burgers at tours. So come hungry if you want burgers, sandwiches, that kind of thing. And they also have delicious beer, and they but they also make delicious cocktails as well. So oh my gosh, and their fries are really good. Oh my god, get the Cajun fries and the spicy ranch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, their Cajun fries. I like all of their ranch. I like that, I like it. Like, I know some people are picky with their ranches, but I like that. I like I like theirs. I know some people like different things, but I like theirs a lot. But their fries, honestly, by themselves are delicious. Oh my god, that's so good. I know I mentioned it last time too, but their chicken sandwich is so good. It's a really good piece of chicken. And it's like it was so it was big, it was huge. I was full.
SPEAKER_01I don't think there's anything small on that menu.
SPEAKER_00That's true. That's true. Yeah, like I got if you get a chicken sandwich at like a you know what Wendy's done's for their chicken sandwich stuff, which is delicious, but this thing's like two or three times the size. Like it's it's crazy. You could share it with somebody. Yeah. And same with the fries, okay? Because they'll bring you a lot. Oh my gosh, the fries, there's so many fries. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I eat like maybe two, and then Tim gets the rest. And whoa, so many fries.
SPEAKER_00And that is, or I take some home and pop them there fryer later. I love it. Oh, that's a great way to reheat some fries. But that's the great thing about Tor. I really enjoy if I'm not in the mood for a beer, because I'm not much of a beer person. I do drink our local beers and stuff, or like uh sour or a lighter one, but they have they have champagnes and stuff for brunches. Sometimes they have some sangrias. Sometimes they have sangrias, or they'll do like a little cocktail thing they'll have available too. So they really do make it like everybody will be able to find something they like. They even have pop. Yeah, soda products, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So uh juices, all that. Yeah, so that's coming up again Sunday, uh August 23rd, with Sophie Jones at Tour Brewing. It'll be a lot of fun. Invite your friends, invite anyone, just come have a good time. It'll be great. We're so excited to see everyone again. And we'll also be selling scrunchies and patches. Yes. So our scrunchies from Bella Benita Designs and our patches from Happy Camper Hat Company. Yes, we love our little friends.
SPEAKER_00We do, we do. We love that they're part of our merchant.
SPEAKER_01So we have something exciting brewing. I know that we've teased this a little bit, but now we're gonna talk a little bit more about it. We had a meeting, a coming together, if you will, on Sunday, a convention, a convening. We did over cocktails, yes. Happy hour, by the way, at Goldfinch is like all Sunday afternoon. Yeah, that's right. In case you wanted to know. So they have great cocktails. Noon to six, happy hour on Sundays at Goldfinch. Never forget that. Yeah, uh, it's a great time. We had great ideas, so we met with a Rocky horror team, which is made up of our friend Brent, our friend Annika, and our friend Joseph. They're and then that's not the whole Rocky horror team, but that's that those are representatives. We also had the lovely Giovanna of Vu events. Yes, and our lovely sponsor, and then our lovely little selves hanging out fresh from recording our coffee break with our so we were there. We have this idea to do an event with them Rocky horror themed around the Rocky Horror Time, which you know, end of October. It's a ticketed event. We will be everyone will be dressing up Rocky Horror themed. Yeah, there will be drinks. There may be bites. We're working on that. Yes, there will be beverages. There'll be beverages. You might be able to make them spooky. There will be a recording. We will be doing a live, we will be doing a live recording that evening, and we will be having some special guests from the show, maybe even some cast members. To be determined. To be determined, so yes, but just keep that in mind. And we have a badass ep venue. Did we even get there yet? I don't know. Are we allowed to mention it? We definitely are allowed to mention it now. Okay, so this will be held at Doc's Hangar.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're going back.
SPEAKER_01Yep, so we are doing So This Happened, Vu Events, Douglas Production Group, Rocky Horror, and Doc Hangar, all working together to make this freaking badass event happen. I'm so excited. I'm pretty sure we landed on $20 a ticket. We will see for service. To be decided. To be decided. Um but yeah, it's happening. I'm waiting on the date. We will we will get with everyone on a date. Watch for a Facebook event to launch because that will be happening very soon.
SPEAKER_00Details will be launching as soon as possible so that everyone can plan ahead. It's gonna be a lot of fun. I'm just I'm so grateful for those like those collaborations and those partnerships. Like that that's really amazing. Like how I feel so like special and honored that you guys are like helping us do that. Yes, and then um so like please show up, please tell your friends, even if you can't show up. Oh my gosh, come hang out with us, dress up like and dressing up, everyone loves a reason to dress up. And I know I know I every year for Halloween, I don't always get the chance to dress up things, so it's always fun to have like a themed party, no matter what time of year it is. Yeah, yeah. Oh, this is definitely a party with a theme. Like, I love that. I think that's so fun. Even if you don't have a costume, you don't just spend money on costume, just get creative, throw on some extra island or draw some stuff on your face, or whatever you want to do. Put some of that food coloring in your hair. I don't care.
SPEAKER_01Do whatever Kool-Aid, buy some fake blood, go down your face. I don't know. We're gonna figure it out. It's gonna be fun though. We're gonna have so we're the best night ever. Yeah, we're gonna have the best night ever.
SPEAKER_00It'll be a lot of fun, and it's I can't wait to see what it grows into. And I'm just ever so grateful for those collaborations and how welcoming they are to these ideas and to helping make this happen. I'm excited. Yeah, it's gonna be a little unhinged in the best ways. I mean, yeah, it's kind of our style.
SPEAKER_01Kind of our style. Now we're turning this thing into heaven, so it's just awesome. Yeah, okay. Well, so be on the lookout for that. More details will be dropping as we go, and we will be It's me. We're fine for a second.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's a dragon.
SPEAKER_00It is actually a little dragon. Gonna bite your butt. I'm a thing. Little thing.
unknownGod.
SPEAKER_01All right. Well, now it's time to go into our hits different segment where we have an assigned song. Tonight's song. I feel like very fitting. I chose the song. So this is always a Taylor Swift song, by the way. This is a Taylor Swift segment. Yes. Where we always pick a Taylor Swift song. I pick a Taylor Swift song. And Rachel listens to it often most times for the first time ever. And and then we talk about it.
SPEAKER_00Or I've like heard it in like a clip or in the background or something, but I've haven't actually like listened to it thoroughly and listened to the words until she assigns it to me. Yeah. Um, but yeah, so that's definitely how it works. And a lot of times I keep it fresh in my brain. Like a lot of times I'll like sometimes I'll get it ahead of time and I'll listen like a couple different like moods that I'm in. That way I can feel it, hit it. It's a different way to do that, yes. But a lot of times too, I'll just listen to it and my first instinct is what I want to share. Like what it feels like.
SPEAKER_01So yeah. Well, tonight's song is Cruel Summer from Taylor Swift's Lover album. I feel like we haven't cheerers tomorrow. Let's cheers too.
SPEAKER_00Cheers to our future events and to this next upcoming segment. That's nothing right. That's a good rose. Angela's beautiful rose. Absolutely. It looks beautiful, it tastes beautiful. And now that you said strawberry, sorry, I'm try backtracking. It does taste like I put a full strawberry in my mouth. Juicy. Like in a good way. In a great way. Like, I mean, I love strawberries, but I mean like even the grain part. And I think that's where the floral comes from. I wonder if they leave those in there. I don't know. That's gonna be a question I'm gonna have. Oh my gosh. We need to eat. Okay. Sorry. Backtracked. But it was it's just so good. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Back to that cruel summer girl.
SPEAKER_00Cruel summer has to have a beautiful rose.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. Everyone, they freaking better. Otherwise, it's a really cruel summer. Otherwise, we're gonna be snobs.
SPEAKER_00It's not even summer. It's snob ain't even summer. Snobby girl summer. Oh gosh. I've never had anyone describe me as a snob until you gin. That's you know, I said it's a snow. But it's okay because you said we.
SPEAKER_01We are collectively the snob.
SPEAKER_00I'll be a snob with you. Okay, great things. Well, Falcon snobs, mate. Yeah. Innit. In it. Yours is different. And that. In it? I think yours is different. Mine's more like Australian. Innett. In it? Or is mine more? I don't know. I'm terrible with accents. I blend them all together. I kind of do too. I don't know if I'm what I sound like. Please leave comments. What do I sound? In it?
unknownIn it.
SPEAKER_00Well, that was bad. What'd she sound like? In it? In it?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I think it just depends on the part of the UK, maybe. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Am I Welsh? I don't know. I feel like I'm Australian, but maybe they don't say that there. Okay. Way on topic. Cruel summer. So we listen to it. I listen to it. Okay, so my instinct is It's you. Is that how it goes? I it's you. It's blue. It's new. It is new. It's new. So I think this summer, I think she's gonna be leading into a lot of things. Like it feels nostalgic, as Moni many of her songs do. Yeah. I feel like she's talking about like maybe like wild summers and like fleeting relationships is what it sounds excuse me. Sounds like to me. And just having fun in the moment and living wild and free and falling in love, even though you know it's not gonna last, because it's just gonna last for the summer. So it's like a summer love or something like that. And I kind of get that to a degree, you know, you to the degree that I feel like this nostalgia behind when it turns summer, and like I don't get it so much now, but like I still do now in my life now, as like more settled and everything that I am. I feel a little bit of that weird shifty change, and I have those memories of those summer times. Oh, yeah. I don't miss them, to be honest. But yeah, I remember those things where you're like just running wild, not really like I think it got wild. It came out of down here, didn't that crazy? Okay, Cartwheels in the front yard. Okay, the front yards are still amazing. Well, it is before minutes before impressive. Thank you. Yeah, you didn't know you were getting a show. Things you don't book. That's right. Services, yeah, services you don't book, a talent show, cartwheels. So I just feel like it was like talking about her fleeting like fun experiences, and like I don't really know what she means when she says it's blue. I feel like maybe it's blue because it's comfortable, but also I'm like, code blue in the doctor world is like dead. So I'm like, So I'm like, hmm, is it blue because she's killing it? Because then I like how she's like, I love you, isn't that the worst thing you ever heard? Basically, is one of the lines. She says, I love you, ain't that the worst thing? Isn't that the worst thing you ever heard? And I don't know if she's hearing it or if she's saying it to someone, and it's like because they're just like, it sucks because you know it's gonna hurt like you. Yeah, yeah. Because you love that person, yeah, and you're having so much fun with them, but you know it's just not gonna last. It's just a fleeting experience. But I don't think that's a reason not to feel love and not to experience that type of a fleeting love, whether it's with a friend, whether it's a lover, whether whatever. I think that you should always still experience those. Yeah. Because that is so good. But it also sucks because you have to put that part in your brain and be like, think, hey, just so you know, like this isn't gonna be your husband. Alert, alert, alert, alert. Don't like you could say I love you, but you can't actually mean it, or you're gonna get hurt. But either way, you're gonna get hurt, honestly. Because you're just gonna be like, oh, what a jerk. He said he loved me. Said he loved me. It's blue, because it's dead.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's what she meant. I don't know. I feel like it's like you know how when people say that they're blue when they're sad. Yeah, she says it's blue, the feeling I got.
SPEAKER_00Oh, so she means like after the fact it's blue. She's blue. Okay. Yeah. Blue da ba-dee bada-da. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_01I feel like you're dead on. Like, I just and I'm blue on. You're you're dead on with like the whole fleeting like summer relationships. But yeah, I like you said, it's so nostalgic because I remember those relationships when I was young, like in my teens, like the the cute boy, like my church camp boyfriend for the week or two weeks, however long I was there.
SPEAKER_00You know, like a lit tall player. I you know, I never had a camp boyfriend.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, yeah. No, I did. And it was so fun.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. If only your mother, like she wouldn't stop letting you go to church. Um, she'd be like, okay, keep going.
SPEAKER_01But I also like I was thinking about it today, too. This other song came on that was really big after I graduated high school. It was like the vitamin C graduation song. And it came on in my car today, and I was like, man, I like it literally brought the exact feelings back of like graduation week. My boyfriend broke up with me right after graduation from high school. What? Yeah, my high school boyfriend Sean broke up with me right after grad like graduation night. I mean, like, fuck you, Sean, but also good. I kind of knew it was coming, uh-huh. But it still fucking sucked. But however, that was also the summer that I started dating Dan. Was this bandcamp? No. No, no, this is from Brahms, okay? We knew each other from high school and from Brahms. Soft served, right? Am I right? Right. We worked at Brahms together and we went to high school together, but he was a year younger than me. So we I know we've talked about Dan on this on this show before. He's also Macy's dad.
SPEAKER_00Yes, so it was meant for a reason, or Macy wouldn't have been around. So I like so good on you, Sean, because we wouldn't have Macy without you breaking Jen's heart, you motherfucker.
SPEAKER_01No. Well, the crazy thing is I'm still in touch with his beautiful and lovely mom, Melinda. She's fantastic. Oh, okay, cool. Yeah, she is the only yeah, Sean's his the only my the only ex-mom that I'm in contact with. Wild. Because she's wonderful. That's wild. I love her. Yeah, gosh, yeah. I I understood that fleeting thing from the camp, but then also I remember all those fun memories from that summer before moving off to college with Dan because he had to stay back because he was still in high school. I was moving off to college. So like it was amazing. Oh gosh, like 4th of July, and you know, all it was very much the in-between. It was the beginning of a relationship, but it was always I knew I had to move to college. Yeah, well, that's what I had to stay behind.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it makes sense that it is blue, like it is a weird feeling.
SPEAKER_01It was a terrible feeling, but it was also the greatest feeling.
SPEAKER_00I also one point like I relate a lot of that sort of feeling that I felt listening to it, not just to like a boyfriend romantic relationship. We've talked a lot about romanticizing your life, yes, as a whole, and I feel like a lot of my thoughts that I had were just me with my friends. Yeah, that's great. And those summer memories. And even if they were friends that were seasonal. Yeah. Um, I have a lot of those friendships too, that like even if nothing necessarily sour happened, and like, or like nothing crazy, nothing that like ripped us apart, that's not there's no reason we're not hanging out anymore. It's just life. Yeah, you know, it doesn't keep us intertwined as much anymore, if at all. But like maybe here and there we'll like be like, hi Carl. Yeah, you know, what's up, or what's up, bro? Like, but like just knowing like a lot of those experiences and fun things too were also not romantic. Yeah, and it was like you know, like like she says in one of the lines crying on the in the car on the way from the bar.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like you're not doing that with the man, you're doing that with your girlfriend. That's exactly right. And he is and they're taking your phone away from you, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or or if it's just like you guys like, you're so pretty, no, you're so pretty. Like, why do we get mad at each other?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, or even would you know, or even if it's like it's a good ladies' room moments when you're all drunk at the bar, but you're in the ladies' room together and it's like I love your outfit, I love your outfit, you look hot, you look hot.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then you get each other summer and then you're hanging out like throughout the summer, you go to pool parties together, or uh go to different concerts or shows together. Like I I have a lot, I have I am lucky enough to where I do think that I have 50-50 of those sort of nostalgic feelings based on that. I think just the ones, unfortunately, that I've hung on to the most, and that a lot of women, a lot of people probably hang on to are those relationship ones. I would challenge anybody listening to this to try to recall and try to hang on to all of them, not just the relationship ones. You're exactly right. Because that's what can add so much more positivity for one, yeah, and just make you not be as like held back, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01No, it's so true because like we were talking long before we ever started recording tonight. We the topic of speeding tickets came up, and I was telling Rachel that the first time that I ever got a speeding ticket what happened to be here in Wichita, and uh my friend Stephanie, Stephanie and I went, and a lot of the time when I think of fall time, I think I do think of Stephanie a lot. Stephanie, her last name is Blummel now. Uh yeah, Blummel. And she we had such a great friendship, but like our friendship that fall just really took off. We really bonded that fall, and we were driving through Eastbro to go to that Target that used to be by the mall.
SPEAKER_00So you didn't tell me you were with her, yeah.
SPEAKER_01She was in the car with me. We were driving to we were driving through Eastboro to get to Target to look for uh Halloween-ish kind of stuff. I I needed to be a wolf for Halloween because of what does the no, I needed to be a fox because of the song What Does the Fox Say had jumped?
SPEAKER_00That's what I was thinking when you said fox. No, you couldn't.
SPEAKER_01I needed fox ears. And I needed to go to Target because I knew they probably had some. And so we were driving through Eastboro and I bought a particular item. Yes, needed to be a fox. Okay, 22 miles per hour. And then the for those of you who don't know, are there any of you that don't know, the speed limit in Eastboro is 20 miles an hour. It's a separate community. Yes, it's like a separate township inside of a township. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00Inside of a shop.
SPEAKER_01And their speed limit is 20. I was going 22, and I got a legit speeding ticket. Yeah. Going to Target to Eastboro.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Um, but like I that's a fun for me, it's still kind of a funny memory. It's nostalgic. It's that season. She was there. We were the bad girls. I'm pretty sure after Target we were.
SPEAKER_00You were going two miles over.
SPEAKER_01We're so bad. I know after Target we went to Ziggy's and drank summer brew and eight queso. I know that we did this.
SPEAKER_00I would have very least have done that if I got a if I got a speed limit for going two to tell me you went to court over two miles.
SPEAKER_01I just had to drive to the little their little Eastboro's office. Their police office is like a house. It's not even a whole square mile of neighborhood. No, it's like a house. And you go into the house and you pay your payments and then you're done. Oh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my brother told me one time there's this like challenge. I didn't know I told you this earlier. There's this challenge, it's called the Eastboro challenge. Oh god. So the boys in high school, it's speed through Eastboro. That is absolutely silly. Silly and see who got a ticket first or who could get through without a ticket.
SPEAKER_01Well, it only takes going 22 miles an hour.
SPEAKER_00So the also there's a light on each end of Eastboro. So you're effed if you don't time it right. Oh my god. Like you're either, and then you're throwing a running a red light and possibly a wreck onto your ticket. So don't do that, folks. Like that's just a battle. Don't do it. Oh my gosh. Wow. That's hilarious. But yeah, no, I love that. Good point. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01That was a beautiful season. Speaking of romanticizing and honoring, you know, friendships as opposed to just straight, you know, yeah, whatever relationships. And so that was one that I always think of, especially this time of year, the fall. And having to be a fox for Halloween because of what does the fox did.
SPEAKER_00You ever find your ears?
SPEAKER_01I did. Oh my god. I need to post the photo. I had this beautiful red leather, real leather jacket. Oh my god, it was amazing.
SPEAKER_00I think I may have seen it.
SPEAKER_01I am sure you did. And I had the fox ears and I had the foxtail, and I wore these black slacks and that sexy red leather jacket that I had and heeled boots, and I was a sexy fox. I'm picturing like business casual fox. I was a very business casual fox. Okay. But sexy. I dig it. It was amazing. That was probably one of my favorite Halloween costumes I've ever done. I love that. Yeah, it was fun.
SPEAKER_00Now we've had a lot of like fun, crazy summer night. Or like they're not summer, I guess. And now I'm thinking fall. I was thinking of our Halloween party when we all drank too much. And Hannah had not been married yet. I'm sorry about her. Hannah was not married yet. She wasn't, and she wasn't engaged. She wasn't even engaged yet.
SPEAKER_01She didn't know she was getting engaged either. We all did.
SPEAKER_00We all knew Shane had the ring. And we were like, and she was so upset. She was crying. Never getting engaged. On the night floor, and she was like, and she but we were all drunk. I we love Hannah. She was elegant as ever about crying on that. But I was like, we were like, and we're all drunk too. You're gonna be good, girl. Yeah. Don't even don't even sweat it. Stop! We love you. Just trying not to talk about it at all because otherwise, we were like, we were we were like mean gin' spaces, we're like she's drunk enough. Like we could tell her she wouldn't even remember, like Shane won't Shane won't have to know. No, we didn't. We didn't. We were very good about that. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. But then buttoned up. I loved being able to tell her that after the fact, too. Yeah. And her being like, oh my god. And I also loved being able to change. I don't think we told Shane right up the bat. I think we told him later on, too, with her. Oh, for sure. And so he was like So then he didn't know. I also think he was like, ha. But he also went out on the bed. She oh god, yeah. So then she's extra just like, what the fuck? Like, he doesn't care. As she should be. I would have been. I would have as well. Yeah. Like, come on, bro. Like, I'm already crying like you're not gonna ever want to marry me. And then he's like, oh man, go pass out. But as he should have. Like, oh my god. Those boys go hard when they get together.
SPEAKER_01They go way too hard. Hannah and I have way too many conversations about this. I think it's because they just they just don't do much.
SPEAKER_00And then when they get together, they do too much. Exactly. But it's like they don't do it, and then they think that they can hang like they used to. The last time that Shane and Hannah were in town, yes, I was there.
SPEAKER_01So Shane ended up at Craig's apartment and they didn't even know each other before that day. That's hilarious. Yeah. What? Turns out. No, you're kidding. That's why we found out later that that's whose apartment he was that night.
SPEAKER_00Is that whenever I Casey and I were out there and then they saw them show up and we were like, I thought you guys were going back. Yep, that's that night. They were like, We're here.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, We were about to leave, and y'all just showed up. Yeah. And then Craig showed up. Yeah, and then so they all wound up, not Tim, but Shane ended up never having met Craig before at Craig's apartment that night, of all things. It was wild. And just stayed. Jesus. It makes sense that they're not. At least now we know where he was. Yeah. It took months to figure that out. Our friend group is wild. They're sweet. We love them.
SPEAKER_00We're a sweet, innocent group. We really are. We're just like, okay, your face. Okay, innocent might be the wrong word. We never do anything on purpose to harm one another. Okay. We never. We love each other. And we never do anything really actually that harms one another. It's just sometimes the plan goes awry. It's just like what with the boys, especially. The boys go crazy. If we let them go rogue, which is honestly a blessing for us too, because then we can be like, okay, let's just do our thing. And like they can go get whatever. Let it get us, let them get it out of their system. They need this. Like they'll get worn, they'll get worn out and regret it. And then they'll be struggling and we'll get to be like, mm-hmm. Oh, it's Girls' Day. Yay. Sunday fun day. Oh God. Since you're too tired, we're gonna go to brunch. Because we actually got our eight hours.
SPEAKER_01So there are good things about yeah. We love you boys. It's all really handy. Honestly, yes, we do love you guys. I say because none of them are mine. They're theirs. It's family. It's our chosen family. No one goes outside the family. That's right. Well, this has been a hell of an episode. We have a lot, we had a lot to cover and a lot to be excited for. We have so much to be excited. We went fairly decent today.
SPEAKER_00I think that was good. I think we all did really well here. We all did, all two of us. All well done.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Good job. In it. In it. We're just gonna have to like name the episode in it. Gosh, we could. Instead of the in-between. The in-between. In it.
SPEAKER_00The innit between because we're in it and about to be out of it. So true. In it.
